Not to beat a dead horse but Im not asking for this and neither are most of the rest of us. All we want is a game that can adequately import publicly available Lahman data. 6.5 did a great job of this. Mogul and PureSim do this. OOTP 2006 doesnt. No matter what anyone says about limited resources and code from scratch and the game had to come out, the fact is that SI and Markus put more emphasis on fictional leagues this year and less on historical imports compared to v6 or 6.5. Because 2006's import is so bad, Cubby and Rolen have to spend months EDITING LAHMAN so that we get decent ratings. We shouldnt have to edit Lahman. Lahman is the stats. They are free. Mogul imports them. PureSim imports them. Even if there isnt another OOTP until 2009, we could play this version for years with annually updated stats just by being able to import Lahman. The legal arguments might be interesting but they arent helping. SI made their decision and it was much better informed than anything we are going to deduce in a few pages of discussion by non-experts. Lets focus our energies on asking for SOFTWARE solutions not monetary/licensing/legal/illegal ones.

Thank you SI!

Jim

Let's just get together and give wilkiburger his money back. He's making everyone from England or where ever the bloody heck he is from sound like an idiot. I have no problem donating a couple bucks to shut him up.

By the way im not suggesting that the current bunch don't know how to do it, I hear there maybe a game glitch.
Sorry, but you're still missing the point. SI can't pay people to create roster sets because they don't have an MLB license.

This has been said before but Take Two can have the MLB Video Game License but SI should have the PC MLB License because it looks like Take Two isn't going to make a Baseball Game for the PC but maybe SI and Take Two can hook up combined the 2 games meaning their Video Baseball Game with Out of the Park Baseball 6 for both a Video and PC Game version.

And it has also been said that with said license comes many limitationas and restirctions placed upon the licensee by MLB.

I would rather not have real players and have a more customizable game than have Randy Johnson/Barry Bonds and a severely limited game.

The outcome at best would be uncertain, and the costs of defense (and management time required to answer endless interrogatories and sit through endless discovery depositions) could easily put a company of its size under.

I often say that in litigation there are ultimately no "winners," only losers. Just ask any company that's ever been through a long and expensive court battle, even if they supposedly "won."

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks.

Yes Markus could you please commit fraud as too please Wikiburger. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink doesn't work its still fraud.
Bugs from roster sets and graphic packs are caused by the modder when they don't follow simple guidelines.

Not as rare as this one.

"Mmmm, 64 slices of American cheese"

"I think I'm blind"

This thread is getting hijacked by Simpsons fans. But it sure beats getting hijacked by MLB license fans. We need a MLB license like Homer needs more belly fat.

Easy there, Mary Joe: Versions 1 and 2 had them. Of course, few knew about OOTP back then, so chances of a lawsuit were slimmer than slim. Personally, I couldn't care less about them MLB rosters.
