Yes it has, I've run into it much more frequently then I did in previous versions.

Not sure, haven't counted.

EC, I haven't seen a pickle or a rundown play yet. Let me know if you see one during your 20 game playout.

Looking forward to a 2-6-3-4-2-6 putout or even an error where the runner takes 3rd or scores.

Thanks to Gil Thorp and Scott Vibert for taking the time and letting me know about the new play results.

That is sweet music to my ears.

Looks like Markus has come through for me.

I will take notes of anything new that I see and post it on the forum.

I will let you know, if I see any rundowns.

I just had my 3B drop a IF popup for a E5.

EDIT TO VENT: Of course the next guy hits a 2-run HR

Sorry about the error and the home run...but I am happy, too.

Markus has come through again with the basic plays.

It is a little thing, but I am overjoyed.

Can't wait to get into V2006.

How about fan interferance on a sharply hit ground ball for a ground rule double?

One play you will never see in this game is the old run-scoring, bases loaded triple play. Mariners did that vs. the Twins this year.

But now that I think about it. If someone out there had all the play by play of all the major league games for the last year, even more. I would write some code to find every play that happened as well as their frequency. I have looked around but all I want is all the play-by-play in one giant text file. And then I could move mountains. :-)

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...18&postcount=1

OOTPB has some text debugging capabilities built into the program. While there would not usually be a need to mess with these during normal game play, they are invaluable for testing text.

There is a configuration file called app that holds the debug settings. If you installed in the default location, this will be in c:\program files\sports interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\config. You can open this file with Notepad or any text editor.

In the file, there are two options related to text editing:

add_debug_info_to_in_game_commentary
If you change the value for this entry from 0 to 1, when you play the game, the Category ID and the Text Object ID will be displayed for each text object that appears in the game, like this:

[330-6442] missed that offering by Dave McNiven, a fastball low...

In this case, the 330 is the category ID, and the 6442 is the text object ID. You can then find these within the english.xml file by searching for "id="6442"", for example.

This is incredibly helpful if you see an option that you don't like, because you can easily find it and eliminate it from the XML file.

This setting affects both game play-by-play and news articles.

dump_in_game_commentary_to_file
If you change the value for this entry from 0 to 1, the game will automatically dump the full play-by-play for all games simmed into a
file in_game.log in the c:\program files\sports interactive\OOTP Baseball 2006\data\saved_games\X.lg folder (for example \data\saved_games\NewGame 321.lg\in_game.log").

It's important to note that the game will spit out PbP for every game on the docket, not just the one you are simming, so don't auto-play a long period of time with this turned on.

This option also causes play-by-play not to display on the screen, and it slows down auto-play tremendously. So, it's really exclusively for debugging.

Note: Always change these options when OOTPB is not running.

First off, one of my major distractors (good thing) for any software I buy is that I have to look under the hood to see how it works, its so much fun. And all this information you present is great and I would do a play frequency check as part of my presentation.

But to clarify one point: I am looking for the play-by-play of all actual games played in real life...not in OOTP. I want to get a count of all plays that have happened, even including the 9-6-3-4-2-5 rundowns.

Putting that together would be fun.

While it would be great to have "rare" plays like this in the game, all I really want right now is just the "basic" plays.

Anything beyond that would truly be great.

You might check with Retrosheet...Markus mentioned he had done some research there on play results and frequency.

You might also contact Marc or battists and see if you could do some work on the text using what Raideroo suggested.

Just do a great text file for the OOTPB Community.

I am sure many of us would appreciate it.

Just had my second baseman drop a pop fly, Eugene. Like you, I'm sure happy to finally see these plays included in the game.

Thanks, Gil, for letting me know this.

Great news.

I am looking forward to setting up my league. But I think I am going to wait another patch or two.

Looks like Markus and SI are doing a fine job in fixing and perfecting the game.

Would also love to see plays that happen every 10-20 yrs...

Earlier this year...

Angels vs Orioles

Javy Lopez homered only to be called out for running past his teammate on the base paths.

Some of the plays that happen in in rl just can't be topped...

The thing that absolutely amazes me is the omission of a news article detailing who was victorious at the end of the playoffs. The lack of this and also reports stating who wins each playoff series is quite baffling.

How fun is it to finally see your team win it all and then to see nothing of it reported in the game universe.

I love this game but I can't quite understand the logic that was used when trying to decide which basic parts of baseball to omit from this version. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for those discussions.

Sorry to rant, but this aspect really bugs me the more I play this game. Would it really be that hard to add this to the mix? I would think that it would be similar to the other event triggers like 5 hits in a game, shut outs, etc. This trigger is even easier to account for since it occurs only once a season.

Markus, can you throw those us a bone here? Just add the trigger and let us write our own news stories if you are pressed for time.
