I played out an entire season in less than a week about 2 weeks ago. I've played about 2 games of 2006 over the last month. I just don't want to give up my solo league with 15 played out seasons. My computer son is 10 years old and had "rather good baseball skills" and I want to see him drafted.
My poor wife rolls her eyes because I sit in the living room on the couch with my laptop on a tray table playing while we watch movies and stuff. She calls it "the foosball". (The Waterboy reference)

Yeah, I've been playing OOTP since version 2 and I'm just simply frustrated with the new game. It seems more like work when I play it than leisure time. The layout is so cumbersome it makes the simplest tasks a chore to do. It doesn't make any sense to me. The one thing _EVERYONE_ always praised OOTP for was it's layout. When I first bought the game and had never even played it before I could breeze through everything with ease. It was so simplified that I was a pro in mere minutes. Now? I feel like I'm drowning with this new version.
They changed the one thing that made OOTP great and stand out from the pack when it comes to text sims; the layout and user interface. I'd die for a classic UI/Layout mod. If I could get the options in this game with the layout/UI of the old games I'd play it more often. As it stands now the game has collected dust for a month or so. I continue to play OOTP 6.51 exclusively. |

Ootp 6.5

I'm sure OOTP2006 will grow on me at some point and I'll appreciate it's (hidden?) subtleties, but I wondered from day one how adopting the 'sexed up' SI interface was going to be any better than keeping the classic OOTP menu system. I dunno... was it to attract the legions of CM fans back to Rounders?

Well, I am just going to consider it a donation to the development of 2K7. I'm sure mistakes have been learned and 2K7 will be the better for it! Viva la 6.51! |

Agreed. I have neither the time nor the inclination to wade through the new interface and the other "features" of the new version. I and my online league are going to stick with 6.51.

Same here. I bought 2006, but gave up on it long ago and won't buy future versions unless OOTPBB reverts back (unlikely) to the old format and builds off that. Looks like I will be 6.51 user for life.

Hello. (In the same manner a person gets up during an AA meeting)..."My name's Erik and I still love OOTP 6.51 w/ Catobase."...Feels great to say that ! I held off purchasing the new version during the hyped-up pre-release because every game that gets a "total re-design" is never stable (personal opinion based on other games played). With all the drama as to what was left out and the ensuing screams for patches, I am glad I stuck with the Old Reliable. I asked myself, "Self, do you want to dive in to a whole new game just because you can find a shortstop from Mongolia ?" The answer to that is a loud "No!"...OOTP 6.51...simple perfection.

Just had a great bidding war over Rich Harden. He was asking for about $10 mil per year for 6 years and after he went higher than I could afford, San Francisco gives him $24,130,000 per year for 5 years!
I love that about this game. So far, he's been worth it for the Giants as he leads the NL in ERA and wins so far at about the all-star break. |
