Intentional Walk AI

I didn't play a ton of games out pre version 1.02 (approx. 25), but it seems as though the Intentional Walk AI may have been tweaked. I've seen in about 10 games post patch more than a couple of the old put the go ahead run on first -- I'm not saying this shouldn't happen some times, but it's not something that should be a frequent occurrence. Then, this situation just came up w/ the White Sox winning 6-1

Top of the 4th - Kansas City Royals batting - Pitching for Chicago (A) White Sox : RHP D. Price
Batting: LHB S. Petty 0-0: Called Strike
0-1: Swinging Strike
0-2: SINGLE (Line Drive, 89M)
Batting: LHB J. Cardénes 0-0: Ball
1-0: SINGLE (Line Drive, 8RS)
S. Petty to second
Batting: SHB J. Atkins 0-0: Foul Ball
0-1: Foul Ball
0-2: Ball
0-2: Wild Pitch!
S. Petty to third
J. Cardénes to second
1-2: Intentional Walk

This one I don't get. Atkins is my best overall hitter, but you are going to walk him to load the bases w/ nobody out w/ a 5 run lead? Even if the next three guys were Mario Mendoza, Rey Ordonez and Rafael Belliard, you are not going to intentionally walk the hitter in this situation. Plus, when is anyone going to intentionally walk someone w/ a 1-2 count on them. BTW, the next 3 guys up were 10/14 (Contact/Power), 12/8 and 12/6.

I'm still impressed w/ the amount of support around here. Thanks for the patches and I look forward to a continually improving game.

ROFL. The second post was great.

Meanwhile, I logged this as TT # 2144. I wouldn't say I consider this a huge deal, but it's on the list, nonetheless. I agree it wasn't a great decision, but then again, neither was leaving Pedro Martinez in...

Still, it's worth Markus taking a look, especially the part about issuing a free pass on a 1-2 count.

This has been claimed fixed in the next patch, but has not yet been verified.

Thanks,

Steve
