Some General Inquiries from A Late-Comer

I have been away for the past month+ and am just activating the new game. I have the latest patch, etc., but am stuck on a few items:
1. Are there any detailed instructions in the manual (or on these forums) for installing real and fictitious ballparks, logos, and player photos?

2. I attempted to play a historical league (1955) yesterday, and all the stats given in the gameplay were for the historical season--not for the replay season I was playing and simulating. So, when Dale Long hit a homerun on opening day, it was his 22 of the season, etc. Is there a setting I should have adjusted to keep the stats correct?

3. Do any of you find the AI completely out-of-bounds on intentional walks? Twice in one game, the Giants' pitchers put the lead/winning run on base in order to pitch to a batter who had only slightly less impressive stats.
This has happened constantly in the two dozen games I have actually played out.
