I have this problem in a fictional league too.

And I don't know if this has been posted but I wanted to test and see how much the CPU can screw things up with the roster so I let the CPU handle roster moves. In the first week of September I had NO players at all in my entire minor league system and only 35 players on the 40 man roster-that's it.

Illegal Number Of Players

I finally decided to scrap my 6 year season because it wouldn't allow me to continue. But thats okay I'm always starting new leagues all the time, I tried to have the game fill the team with more players but that didn't work. I"m sure it will be dealt with in the next patch as I have seen a couple of others with the same problem. I was in a Historical League and I wonder if that has anything to do with it....

Thanks, all.

This has been claimed to be fixed.

We created several test leagues and were unable to replicate the bug in patch 2.

Can anyone provide specific steps in your version that ALWAYS result in this error? We'd like to duplicate those exact steps in Patch 2 to be certain this is squashed.

Bump. This is still happening with Patch2.

I created a 1901 historical league. 15 man rosters, 3 man rotations.

Added AAA, AA, A, and R level minors. I went 5 seasons before the first occurance. Now I'm only able to go 1-2 seasons before it returns after I go to my rookie league and fill with fictional.

So far, it only happens with my rookie league.

I also posted another thread about the roster rules not being followed. So, not only am I getting a rookie league club with only 2 pitchers, they've got 18-20 total players rather than 15.

Observations:

Draft occurs June 15. Season begins June 21. The team with the problem drafted one pitcher. He remained on the roster. On the same day, they promoted all three of the pitchers on their roster (including the guy they just drafted) to the A level team and received one pitcher in return. The pitcher that was demoted is now the only pitcher on the roster.

Here are the number of pitchers at each level:
R - 1
A - 6
AA - 6
AAA - 5
ML - 5

Both ML and AAA are maintaining the minimum number of starters for the rotation plus one MR and one CL.

AA and A are also maintaining exactly the number of SP's for the rotation (3 at AA and I set A to 2) with one closer each. AA is holding on to only 2 MR, but A is keeping 3.

I have the rookie league set to a 1 man rotation and the one player that they have is a SP.

If the A club wasn't carrying one extra MR, all would seem to be fine.

I will play through until the next error and see if a similar situation results.

I also am having this problem with patch 2, always playing historical. I get around it by filling team with fictional players.

Additional Info: After filling with fictional players, the roster balloons to 29 players. Typically the rookie league has been maintaining roster sizes of 20. They now have 1 SP and 5 MR's.

It looks like when you set smaller rotations, the AI doesn't allow for a possible injury or occasional replacement. It restricts the number of starters to whatever the rotation size is. Now, I'm not sure if it is taking players that would be starters and changing their role or not. It looks like that is what it is doing though becuase one of the MR's has an endurance of 20 (1-20 scale).

When it has a TT#, no bumping is needed, we will just reopen the TT and move it to logged issues. Thanks.

#1797 now in regressed and review mode.

Sorry. I wasn't sure you could reopen a TT after it was closed once. Either way, I wanted to make sure you guys saw my new findings and relogged it.

Let me know if you need any more info or saved games, etc.

Just curious, are you guys managing a single team? Running just as commissioner?

I just created a league based on what jnshmoo wrote, and am currently running a 10-year sim as commissioner. We'll see what happens. We're still having trouble replicating this issue over here...

Thanks,

Steve

In my sim I controlled no team. I was going to sim several years of history before taking control of a team.

Started unemployed with Joe Unknown and left it at that.

I can send you a saved game at the point the error occured if you'd like.

Could you please zip up just the .dat files and e-mail them to markus.heinsohn@sigames.com, and refer to "TT # 1797" in the header?

Just tell him that this is a league that was created in 1.0.2, and experiences the "illegal # of players" problem.

I'm now in year 4 of my jnshmoo league, and no problems so far.

Also, were all of the historical-related options like "automatically import" set to the defaults?

Thanks!

Steve

I had the same thing happeneing. Only in the rookie league.

No teams are human controlled.

I increased the draft to 25 rounds, and so far haven't had the problem in 20 seasons since.

Ok, I'll do this tonight when I get home. What do you mean by defaults? I do have it automatically importing, but the only think I can remember changing is inputting the directory where my database is.

What year are you simming? Maybe this isn't as much of a problem with more modern leagues? I believe I started mine in 1901.

Also, It took the error about 5 seasons to pop up, then it would happen once every 1-2 seasons after that.
