Personality - Worry or not?
Do the personality ratings make a noticable difference? Well, I know Greed does, and definitely like high loyalty - high greed/low loyalty players are ones I definitely think (at least) twice about during drafts/trading - but what about the others?
Would it be prudent to shy away from a stud with bad work ethic - or will that not hurt him, especially if I have solid coaching in my organization? How about leadership? Can you have too much like was said possible in V6/6/5? Would a smarter player with less talent be a better choice than a "stupid" but generally above average tooled player? What are you views on the personality ratings? Do you care about them when trading/drafting, or let the player's tools speak to you 100%? |

Good question. Obviously, the ones you've mentioned would impact contract talks, but as for the others it has been claimed they do not affect performance on the field, so I'm not sure how to address that other than to say I use it to immerse my impression of the player. But I'm uncertain how, if at all, it affects anything else in the game. I'll see if I can get more definition this week.
Thanks for bringing it up.

I'd also like to know what kind of effects these have?

How much does greed effect my overall happiness on my players. Do they get more unhappy the closer they are towards a low paying contract?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that intelligence and work ethic affect player development, but I don't recall how they do or where I read it. Helpful, eh?
![]() edit: Aha! From pp.258-259 of the game guide: "Intelligent players may have some positive effect on other players in the clubhouse, and can influence in-game decisions and player development.... Players with a strong work ethic may have some positive effect on other players in the clubhouse, and can influence player development, slump management, etc." Last edited by OakDragon; 07-11-2006 at 07:51 PM. |

I don't think you'll find any of these traits to have a huge impact on the game, though each DOES have an impact.
