Okay the program now runs for me but when I select photos after selecting the league and years it says i must create a CSV dump which I have done. Any suggestions? I'm really looking forward to this mod!

This means that it is not finding the CSV file(s) that it needs.

Is the path correct in the text window at the top?

Did you do a CSV dump? It is the bottom selection of the three, not the SQL or the Access dump.

I'm having some difficulties. When I click File>Load League in Anderson Utilities I get the message "You do not have the PHOTOS folder set up properly. Please review the documentation." However, I did unzip the photos to C:\AU2006.

I select my league (historical league) from the list and click the photos button and I get this report:

Total Players: 355
New Photos Added: 0
Real Photo already existed: 0
Japan Photos added: 0
Misc. Photos Added: 0

In the C:\AU2006 folder I do get a AU2006.ini file which does show the path to the league I tried to import the photos to.

What am I doing wrong?

You should have the following folders in C:\AU2006

C:\AU2006\Photos\Random
C:\AU2006\Photos\98
C:\AU2006\1871
C:\AU2006\1872
C:\AU2006\1873 etc.. to 2005

Is it set that way?

The yearly folders are set exactly like that:

C:\AU2006\1871
C:\AU2006\1872
C:\AU2006\1873 etc.. to 2005

But the "98" and Random" folders are not:

C:\AU2006\Photos\Random
C:\AU2006\Photos\98

Instead, they are just:

C:\AU2006\Random
C:\AU2006\98

Should I create a folder called "Photos" and dump these two folders inside that?

OK, I got it working.

Main folder should be C:\AU2006. Inside that should be the "Photos" folder containing the yearly subfolders and the random and 98 folders as well.

It found photos for 268 of my 355 players in my 1902 league, not bad. Maybe there are some player photos with names that do not exactly match lahman or maybe the photo pack collection is just missing some players.

This is a fantastic utility and a superb collection of player photos. Stellar work!

got mine to work to. I was doing somethjing stupid, I was selecting the wrong league that I did the CSV dump for.

Am I missing something? My drop downs have decades not individual years. when I do 2000 and 2000 for first and last in my 2002 league, I get only 125 photos added...Any pointers?

I added a couple new functions:

There is a new REPORT menu. A photo report will examine your league and tell you how many photos there are, retired, active, real, fakes, etc. It was a bit more complicated than I had expected, so it is not quite perfect yet.

The REPORT GOOGLE is sort of cool. It looks through your league and displays a HTML report with all the players without REAL photos. It shows their name and their ID number. Next to that is a link called GOOGLE IT. Click on it and it will do a Google Image search for that name. See a photo you like and then you can save it to your hard drive from IE. Remember you have to resize it before using it. Then you can manually add it to your league.

Tomorrow, if time permits, I will change the code so you can add players to the photo collection, or replace the collection with one of your own.

Please help contribute to the program. If you get some photos that you know are real photos of the players, please e-mail them to me at webcomedian@msn.com

Please include a brief message containing the year that the player played, so I do not have to look it up. This would be his first year in the majors. I will release updated zip files of the new photos, so this image collection can continue to grow.

How does this work with a fictional league, and what about new players, do you have to run the program again to assign them a photo, if so, do you lose the photos that are already assigned?

It works great with a fictional league. When you run it the first time, it will assign a picture to EVERY player in the league.

When you run it the second time after new players are added, it will add photos for them. It will not change the existing photos that are there.

TIP: When dealing with a totally fictional season, pick 1870 in the first drop down and manually type in 1871 in the second drop down to speed things up.

I added a new folder to the PHOTOS folder called UPDATE.

If you find a picture you want to include in the collection, give it the players name and add it to the UPDATE folder. It will always check this folder to see if the guy exists.

So, let's say your name is Tommy Hothead, you can put a Tommy_Hothead.jpg in the UPDATE folder and then go and rename one of your players to Tommy Hothead and it will add it correctly.

I plan on using this in future releases for updated photos that people send me.

I also added the ability for you to add photos to the random collection and to the Japan photo or to even delete photos from it. Please see the help file for information on this function.

Thank you so much for doing this. It is awesome and really increases my enjoyment of the game.

I have 4561 players in a league. When I run, it seems to do the historical players perfectly. The report says it did 756 real photos, 35 Japanese and 3769 misc photos. But then in the game there are still many players without photos at all. Some fictional players do appear to have photos, but many do not. When I run report--->photos, there are about 1500 active players with no photos. Any ideas?

I am still a little unclear on folder locations. i have c:\au2006\photos with everything inside there. When the random file was just in c:\au2006, I got an exception error which seemed to say the program was looking inside the photo folder. is that right?
