40-Man roster full with 37 players

If the thread title didn't describe it, I can't put someone on the 40-man, and it's really causing a jam because I need to do something with him, a FA I recently signed. It doesn't matter who I take off the 40-man roster, it says it's full. See screenshot:

Additionally... is there any reason why OOTP should be taking up 97% of my CPU resources even when it's idle? It's not doing anything yet making my computer run unbearably slowly. 2.4 Ghz, 1 GB ram, Radeon 9700... It doesn't matter, it seems to me that with every successive version that is supposed to run faster than the previous, it just runs slower and slower. It's even gotten to the point where clicking in the game becomes an issue. It takes me clicking 3-4 times for it to be recognized. This is all frustrating but something I've grown accustomed to, however the 40-man roster thing is kinda stopping my season...

Wow. By looking at that screenshot I'm not too sure it's only OOTP taking up your resources or did Task Manager actually have OOTP taking up 97%? Which I think would make sense with all of the other programs/windows open.

6 IE windows, 5 MSN windows, Word, 5 AIM windows, notepad, 4 Windows Explorer windows, 2 Firefox windows, Adobe Photoshop, something I can't make out.. and then OOTP.

Seems like an awful lot of stuff to have open., do you have a anti-virus program running also?

Anyway, to try to answer your question, I don't know if they count but I see 3 players in the DFA window.

Ya, I regretted posting that screenshot cause i knew it would be blamed on that.

Out of those, Photoshop and Google Earth are the only things that ever seem to hog enough memory or resources to disrupt anything. Photoshop I only opened to do the screenshot, and Google Earth... well, I was bored and started browsing. But they have been closed and the problem consists, actually getting worse the more I play. Now clicking takes repetition of 7-8 times to get it to recognize. And yes, Task Manager has OOTP at 97%. On recheck now it's between 95-99% with 237 MB of RAM. And again... it's not doing anything. It's idle. It's not simming. There's no reason it should be slowing up my computer this much, especially after Markus had that post before stating how fast it ran in comparisons to OOTP 6.5. In old versions I could get through many seasons in a night. Now it's taken me a week to get through one. Admittedly, a LOT of that is because of new stuff you need to do that you didn't in the old one (And having to decline a trade offered for the same player I don't want from Washington on an almost daily basis...), but the game speed is one of the culprits for it.

Oh, no anti-virus.

"active roster" is the 25 man. I was getting this error too, but unfortunately, I forgot how I got around it.

In the DFA screen, the guys that you place in 40 man roster are automatically included in the 25 man roster. If you want those guys in the Active Roster (25 man), then you need to clear space in that roster to include them. If you want those players in AAA,AA or A, you can right click and demote them to minor leagues, then you can included in the 40 man if you want.
