that sucks. looks like ill have my work cut out for me. i had a japanese friend buy me a massive total baseball style encyclopedia for me, but im gonna have to draft her to translate since its all japanese (aside from the numbers natch, but all the bio info is japanese). but from the various sources ive seen, its the most complete one ive run across. one of these years ill finish.

the rest of the teams seemed fine. the game doesnt handle city names if you append something to it, like a corporate name. i think i changed/added sapporo for the nippon ham fighters as well.

i ran a hands off auto-play and on first blush, the stats looked pretty good. the strikeout totals are a bit low and triples are up slightly, but solid otherwise. thx again.

This is a very nice roster set. I wasn't going to play OOTP until the next patch but I saw your post and thought I'd give these a shot.

Thanks!

DRays, I finished the regular season as Seibu and won my division with a 76-60 record yet the standings screen showed that my magic number was still 8 even though the date is 10-5-06. Any idea why this might have happened? Is it a schedule issue or a potential bug?

blackrussian and DRaysGoRocco,

1. What are the problems you are having with the database import?

2. Which of the following files are needed for a proper import into the game?

Allstar.csv, AwardsManagers.csv, AwardsPlayers.csv, AwardsShareManagers.csv, AwardsSharePlayers.csv, Batting.csv, BattingPost.csv, Fielding.csv, FieldingOF.csv, FieldingPost.csv, HallOfFame.csv, Managers.csv, ManagersHalf.csv, Master.csv, Pitching.csv, PitchingPost.csv, Salaries.csv, SeriesPost.csv, Teams.csv, TeamsFranchises.csv, TeamsHalf.csv

I'll try to get a Lahman-style database made sometime in the next few days. Note that there are no fielding stats (PO, A, etc.) available in any electronic form before around 1995, so fielding stats before then may be messed up.

By the way, blackrussian, what is the name of that book? Also, and this would be a large request, could someone send me an db dump of a test sim of the league. I am unable take a look at the statistical accuracy of the file for myself as I don't have the game.

Hope this helps.

That would be great if you could get a lahman style DB. The added feature of having career stats would be excellent. I might have to go through and rerate all the players again to be proportional to MLB, but it would be worth it.

The problem is that the Central League plays 146 games while the Pacific League plays only 136. It's a problem with the OOTP Japanese default schedule that would occur even if you weren't using my set. Basically, when the PacLg season is over, it still calculates that there are 10 games left.

The only way to fix this issue is for the programming code to change, IMO.

i wish i knew. i actually downloaded the database you referenced in another thread (not the one you emailed me, but the one already in CSV format) and it would not cooperate. i spent literally all day working on any potential issue, took care of a few minor errors (some ID inconsistencies) and i kept getting the 'historical import failed' error. i narrowed it down to the master.csv file, but i cannot for the life of me figure out what the problem is. the weird thing is that if i use that db to import single players into an existing league, it works. just so you know im using an intel mac and b/c of import problems with the 5.3 version of lahman, i was using 5.1 version.

perhaps thats the problem? the db's ive had are 5.3 format? but that seems unlikely b/c 5.3's ive tried to import still work, albeit incorrectly (all players import as DH, some other ratings are wacky).

it can be really stripped down to batting.csv, pitching.csv, fielding.csv, master.csv, teams.csv, teamsfranchises.csv, if not less.

great. maybe you can figure out whats going on. i actually wanted to PM you to perhaps email you the db ive been working with to see if you had any insight on why its didnt want to import. but yeah, thats one of my big frustrations. fielding stats, even relatively recent ones are near impossible to find.

ill get back to you about the book later, as im not at home right now. actually, i have 2 good sources. aside from this encyclopedia, i have a thick annual (2004 i think) that has a wealth of information, including career stats for active players at that time. again, mostly japanese so im trying to get translation help. i should be able to find links on the japanese amazon for you. the encyclopedia was expensive, i think i ended up paying about $150 or so for it after the dollar/yen conversion.

Pretty difficult, but possible. You'd have to export the rosters, change all 600 player's ID's and team ID's to match with the new universe. After importing, you'd have to re-do all contracts, injury, and personal attributes b/c they don't import.

When this set is complete, the plan is to join it with the MLB universe

Just an update on the progress of the file....

I've added 15 players to each ni-gun/minor league affiliate to give each team 40 "real" players (all on 40-man roster). I'm not going to bother with the remaining 10 players on the ni-gun rosters b/c just about all of them will not see any "big league" time.

I added stadium photos and coordinates so when managing in game, there are real pictures and not just Turner Field to look at

I'm currently working on two things. I'm messing around with the player creation modifiers and MLE's b/c I wasn't happy with how players were being created in the first version.

Second, I'm trying to find as many player photos as possible. It looks like I'll be able to find about 360 of the 480 players.

I hope to be done in a week, hopefully sooner and will eventually merge this file with Cubby/Rolen's World Universe file

So far I've went through 6 of the 12 teams and found 168 pics. I'm going to go through the other 6 in the next day or two. I haven't resized any of them yet either. Would you like me to send you all the pics and missing list when I'm done so you can add it to your set?

Sorry to hear about your knee, hope you recover quickly. I'll try to get done going through the rest of the teams tommorrow and everything to you when I'm done.

Not every photo is a headshot though. It's tough to get good pics of the non-superstars. So a good number of them are in game photos and such.

This set looks fantastic - just to confirm, you haven't released the update with the 15 ni-gun, but it's coming soon, right? I can't wait!

Drays and Ozzie -

im almost finished with an updated 2006 *** facepack myself, it should be fairly complete and accurate. managers included as well, im also working on coaches but ill prolly add that a few days later as im still tracking down all of them. the facepack will likely be done late tonight or tomorrow.

ive also begun working on a non-current *** facepack, basically just adding what i can find, not any particular year or anything. id be happy to include what extras i have in the version thats almost complete.
