Closer throws 137 pitches in spring game
My 7th game of spring training went 15 innings. My closer threw 8.2 innings/137 pitches (I had the AI set up to run the team...was basically just watching the game). He was the only pitcher on either side to be "misused" (no other pitcher went more than 4 innings). I've got plenty of pitchers on the staff that weren't used. It's not a gamebreaker but it's terribly unrealistic (esp in an ST game). Hope this can get looked at or maybe have an option to halt spring games after X number of innings.
This is a league set up to model MBL with fictional players started with version 1.01. |

I could not find anything on this subject. Personally, I would like the ST games to end after 9 innings, period. |

Yeah I have had this happen before as well. It was not a spring training game but it was during either a Rookie or Single A game that lasted 23 innings and one of the relief pitchers went 12.2 innings and threw 141 pitches.
On the Spring Training games lasting only 9 innings, I believe they only play 10 or 11 innings and then call it a tie if no one actually wins is......or maybe its just until one of the teams runs out of pitchers.....dont remember which

Could it possibly be that the AI had already used the whole bullpen? Does the AI go to starters?

If you have pitchers who are TIRED IN ANY WAY, they AI will not use them in the game.
This goes for regular season as well. I had a bunch of guys who were not fully rested, and had a pitcher throw a complete game, giving up 10 earned runs because the AI felt no one in the bullpen could go. |

This is preferable to how around v3 or so your setup man would regularly throw 100 games a year. Mike Marshall was on every team in every league. Now the AI has to work into the back of the bullpen.

I had a game go 27 innings. Here's Tug Mcgraw's relief appearrance from that game:
T. McGraw L (0-1) 18.1 9 1 1 5 11 1 264 165 0.49 With a performance out of the bullpen like that one, he deserves a win even if his team loses. lol |

I have been noticing that a lot of starting pitchers are going 10+ innings, so it looks like the AI bases it on the number of pitches thrown by a pitcher. |

This is a major element of patch 2 testing.
