Roster Poll

Well its been a Month now since we've had the game and we're still playing with 6.5 rosters that produce pretty wacked out stats, stuck with historical rosters (which can be fun), or just trying the fictional stuff out only to find out its just not like having a Rickie Weeks or a Albert Pujols in there. So I just wanted to gather everyone's opinion on when we will actually see a 2006 roster set. Yes I know I may sound impatient but I don't think anyone can be really patient after a month of waiting. So feel free to bash me as much as you want, but I just wanna hear some of your opinions. Thannks for your time.

OK, here goes: if you need 'em that bad, make the set yourself. I think it is totally out of line to take a backdoor route towards criticizing people who are working for free in their spare time to improve our game.

I'd say when you are finished making them. For all of the people on here bitching about the rosters not being available, why not use that energy to create a set yourself.... I don't have the time to do it, so I sit back and wait patiently. These guys are doing detailed research to attempt to deliver as realistic a product as possible. If you want rosters that won't import properly, go download a 6.5 roster set and import.....If that doesn't suffice, then shut your piehole and let the process work itself out..

I will say there will definitely be multiple choices out within the next 2 months.

See this is exactly why I wish Marc hadn't mentioned that he had roster makers on board the beta team during his pre-release blitz. I think he just got excited and knew that it would excite everyone else but it really put Cubby and Rolen in a bind. If these guys had just been able to come out when the roster was done and say, "here you go guys, a full MLB opening day roster!" it would have been different.

Instead now many people are impatient and angry. I admit, I wouldn't have even bought the game yet if I hadn't read Marc's little hint about a roster set in the works. That being said, when it's done it's done. I don't think this is something that anyone wants rushed.

I also blame some of the impatience on the release date of the game. As I remember it, in past versions of OOTP by July 1st we had a solid relatively bug free game and a few solid roster sets out to choose from. I know I didn't expect to be waiting for a crucial patch and rosters but what are you gonna do? I just don't think it's fair for people to cricitze those that are putting in the time and energy and they're the one's taking the abuse. That's just wrong.

If I had the game as early as some people, the I would have gladly made a set of rosters. I mean I tip my cap the roster makers for doing it for free. But I mean they also had the game early.

I understand the game isn't perfect and yet again I tip my hat to the makers of the game. But still its a business, we paid hard earned money for this (ok so its actually 2 hours sitting at radioshack, but still). This is like having a cell phone that doesn't have any service (and now I'm not only talking about the rosters).

well Erich is about done with his set. GForce has some kind of best of all time set in develpment. I should have something out in abou 2 months. Last I knew there were people working on Japanese and Cuban rosters. so like i said within the next 2 months there should be lots of choices

Don't blame Marc, you want someone to blame, blame me. It is my fault that they were not done for the release, period end of story.

With regards to the rosters. While I don't give out time frames for releases, I have offered this date to Marc as a date that I will have something released on the 5th anniversary of the date that I purchased OOTP3. So one way or another the roster will be released by that date if not earlier.

I'm sorry if that came out the wrong way. I'm not blaming Marc for the roster not being out at all. I don't think anyone is to blame for that. I just meant that when Marc mentioned it, it created a monster hype for the roster set.

One of the problems that I am having in regards to getting out my historical rosters is that I just don't enjoy this version of the game. I keep playing hoping that will change but for now...

Don't get me wrong. I'm as excited as anyone for Cubby and Erich to release their roster set. (Thanks again, guys.) But....

But the delay is a blessing in disguise (as my grandmother used to say). I think it's better to get used to the game using a fictional league until Patch 2 is released, instead of with a roster set I want to play with for a long time.

I don't want to begin a MLB 2006 league till major issues are patched, including AI issues. If I had the roster set 4 weeks ago, I'd just be frustrated by the bugs and AI issues. I'd still probably need to start over with Patch 2.

So it looks to me like the timing will work almost perfectly. If Cubby & Erich release a non-beta roster set soon after Patch 2 comes out, everybody wins.

Just my two cents.

Oh, bull. First off, no you wouldn't have gladly made rosters. Of that I am certain. Because no one who would actually do so would be such a moron as to pull what you're pulling here. No, rather, you're a sponge, hoping to get something and give nothing, and think you have some right to get something free on your own timetable.

Second...you paid hard earned money for what? You knew the game wasn't coming with MLB rosters, and you bought it anyway, so that's nobody's fault but your own. And you're not paying anybody to do the rosters. So your hard-earned money B.S. is just plain stupid.

Wow, Someone is becoming quite bitter. First off, I just love how you and Cubbyfan think you know who can and can't do a roster set? or maybe you just don't think anyone else is allowed to do?

Either that or I get pissed off when I drop a ton of time into it and someone like you comes along and thinks they can finish a project in 3 or 4 days. Call me a jerk -- but for some reason, someone who can't properly use grammar or spell correctly, whines, complains, gets on everyone's nerves, and makes me think I'm talking to a twelve year-old (and that's not just my opinion, it really does feel like that when you post, no offense to the twelve year-olds for comparing you to Ozzie) isn't someone I trust making rosters for me, maybe it's just me (I'm sure I screwed some up in here and will get the grammar police in a few minutes though).

What happened to your roster project? Suddenly it went from a few days to a few months? Funny how that works, isn't it?

I would be GLAD to see another roster set out there! I already told GForce that I'm eagerly anticipating using his set, and I would be happy to see HaloFan have his ported over to 2006 somehow.

What I don't like though, is people who think they can come in, complain and whine at me because I'm not finishing quickly enough, announce plans for a huge set, and then dump it two days later because it became too much work.

Call me an ego-maniac, but that's just how I feel.

But then again, I am, apparently, God's gift to the OOTP community, so treat my words as you will.
