I'm a Bulls fan. I really have no rooting interest in this series. I really like Dirk, but I really like Wade and Shaq, too. I thought Dallas had the advantage, and apparently so did the NBA.

Game 3 was disgusting to watch as a fan of basketball. There was no way the Mavs blow that lead without it being 5 on 8. Miami got away with more in that game than Dallas did this entire playoffs. But that wasn't so bad. With the series tied at 2, Dallas still had the advantage with home court and a younger, quicker team.

Then Jerry Stackhouse fouled Shaq. It shouldn't have even been a flagrant foul. His arm was clearly reaching for the ball. The only reason it looked so bad was that the contact was in mid-air and Shaq is old, slow, fat, and not very agile. So he fell. It didn't even look bad and nobody can say Stackhouse had any poor intentions. That was a great example of how you foul someone so they can't score the basket. Even if he caught Shaq in the head, well, there's at least one foul a game in the NBE that is as hard as that.

And the officials now say that Stackhouse's foul was equal in severity to James Posey's foul on Kirk Hinrich in round one. Posey's foul was probably the most bush league act I have ever seen in an NBA game. He hit Hinrich from behind. He ran up, lowered his shoulder, and hit him with a check that would've gotten a penalty in hockey. He tried to injure Hinrich and all he received was a one game suspension for a completely unnecessary, clearly malicious act. Stackhouse was just keeping Shaq from an easy dunk.

I've been very careful to say the NBE was outright rigged. I've always felt the refs had way too much influence, but now I know it goes beyond some bad Dick Bavetta officiating. I'm not sure if David Stern doesn't want Mark Cuban winning a title or if he just wants a 7-game series, but the NBE is not a fair game. It's such an exciting, entertaining game with some amazing players. It's too bad that it's damn near impossible to accept the outcomes when they're so controlled by the old white guys in nice suits.
sports fans like this person are sad. please keep crying over officiating. the three referees on the court also happen to be three humans. i would looooove to see you do the job.

the stackhouse flagrant was definitely flagrant. you must be out of your mind if you think that was a normal foul. shaq was all alone in front of the hoop and stackhouse comes charging in, hits shaq across his body, and did this by coming from behind. easy call to call it flagrant.

i'd also like to point out this ridiculous comment. the players decide the games. the mavericks had ample opportunity to close this series, and the mavs know it. dirk himself admitted that the series shouldve gone 3-0 and they should be on their way to disney world, but he pointed out that you cant play 43 minutes of an NBA game and expect to come out on top, especially when you blow a 13-point lead in the final five minutes. the mavericks lost can be blamed solely on the mavericks. even they will tell you that. its only the crying fans that will keep on crying over suspect calls and claim that without the suspect calls, things wouldve been different. bottom line, heat swept the mavericks - 4 wins in a row. deal with it.

Or, cause players can't speak out against bad officiating as part of their job?

Not saying they would if they could, but they can't, correct?

yeah youre right.. players never complain about officiating and the fines thatmight occur after one complains about officiating are really devastating to their bank accounts [/sarcasm]
