Question league within a league

Hi,

I'm really confused with this whole baseball universe. I saw a TRTR thread (can't remember which day) explaining it a little bit about having a Mexican league within the Major Leagues that can sign players from the ML's and vice versa. That sounds awesome and I want to do it. I don't understand though...are they two totally different leagues within the same season, or are the other leagues just the minor leagues? Any kind of insight is welcome on this.

Think of the new OOTP as a world not just one league.

Just like in real life the Mexican league exists independently of the MLB. Think of it like a neighborhood in the sims. You might only be focusing on one household (league) but the other houses (leagues) are going about their daily lives at the same time.

Thanks for the reply.

So, for instance, we would be able to tap into each league whenever we wanted to? Whenever we simulate the real ML's the other leagues sim with it...that's great. So, will we be informed if one of the players gets pulled away to a different league? I'm lost because it's very similar to real life and I can't comprehend that being in a video game. The options seem endless

Yep you can choose whether or not to allow trading or free agency between leagues. You can have the top tier league raiding lower leagues for their top talent. The options pretty much are endless.

This is crazy. I think I'm going to have to drop out of school and quit my career.

One more question...the baseball univerise...say I have the real ML's and 4 other countries involved in a league. Are the 4 countries basically just the minor leagues for each team or are they a major league team in their own right, but in a different country, making it so I'm basically playing with 5 ML's where I can trade worldwide? This is what I'm having a hard time believing. I promise that's my last question on this until the game comes out.

You'd be playing with five ML's all with their own minors. I believe each team can have 10 minor affiliates.

You think that's crazy, look at the scouting system. I think I'm going to change my entire approach to playing one day at a time.

No kidding. It seems like you'd be missing out on way too much or doing something wrong by simulating even just a week at a time. I hope all of these features don't become too much of a hassle as fun as they can be.

Well, as usual, everything is optional so you can toggle things on and off that you like and dislike!

Yeah, you really can't simulate many days at a time, assuming you want to actually PLAY the game. You'd miss way too much. This was a problem I had with the earlier versions, if my team was well out of first place, there really wasn't much to do except sim until the next season.

I love your first few posts in this thread...it's what a lot of us have been saying for months now.

I've been an OOTP5 player for a few years, and am just now dabbling in OOTP 2006... so if I leave "Trade with other Major Leagues" unchecked, computer trades will only take place within "my" Major League? So Carl Crawford wont be traded from Tampa Bay to the "Mid-South Guam Baseball Federation", correct? He could be traded from Tampa to Arizona, though?

TRAY,

I believe that's correct. Trades involving your major league players would still go on within your real MLB, but the MLB could not trade with your Guam league.
