It was Vince Coleman. He won an MVP in 1990 ( nice to see non-sluggers get the award) and signed with the Red Sox in 1991 for a huge sum.

He suffered 16 (!) injuries over the next 5 years and did virtually nothing but draw a paycheck during this time.
