Why aren't I getting replies from Free Agents?
I installed OOTP2006 almost 2 weeks ago. I have recently patched to the current version.
I am simming with MLB2005 stats. In the beginning there was a large pool of free agents. I had a ton of money so I tried to buy alot of them, some expensive, some cheap. I didn't get any responses so I set up everything else and simmed to Spring Training which was about 3 months. 2 of my scouts found prospects, so I know something was going on. However, I still didn't receive any notice from the Free Agents I had offered contracts. By this point the waiver wire is available, I claimed 5 players. Simmed the first week of spring training and guess what...still no free agents but also noone from waivers came to my team. I looked at the waiver wire and there are only 5 ppl left on waivers. I checked the settings and I have it set to a 3 day period. Curious about why I didn't get anyone, I did a search for the one player I could remember claiming. He is now a Free Agent! My question is why aren't I getting the people I have claimed from waivers even though it says my claim is accepted and why haven't I received any responses from the free agents. By now I would have expected some response... I am 7 days into Spring Training... |

AS far as I know, there are two possible reasons why your FA contract offers don't seem to be going through. First, are you remembering to click the "submit offer" button at the bottom of the page when you are finished putting together your offer? Second, notification of responses to FA offers comes to you via the news page on your "manager" tab -- have you been checking there for answers?
As far as claiming players off of waivers, remember that players put on waivers CAN be withdrawn by the team that has their contract, if their status as players allows it. But assuming that didn't happen in all five of your cases, after making the claim you have to check for notification of being awarded the player, and again this notification comes on the news page of your manager tab. Finally, after getting the word that you have the player, the last thing that happens is that the player shows your under the list of players designated for assignment, which can be found under your team's "Transactions" tab. Sorry not to be able to help more -- I find that both FA contract offers and waiver claims are working fine for me. EDIT: Sometimes responses from players to contract offers DO take a while, but I can't recall having to wait as long as 7 days for an answer. Last edited by thbroman; 06-14-2006 at 05:40 AM. |

Simmed another 7 days and did get some waiver responses.
However, I have still never received a response from a Free Agent. The one thing I forgot to mention is that I am out of money. Because I offered contracts to all these agents, it was deducted from my pool. Since none have responded, either to accept or decline, the money is still deducted. I do check my news page often. |

Maybe the bug is that you are able to "apparently" make offers but in fact don't have enough money to do so. If that's the case, that's a bug -- I would think that a pop-up should appear saying, "You don't have the money for that!" |

I had the same issue, reported here a week or so ago - I made a number of FA offers and never heard back from anybody. I had enough cash and definitely sent the offers in (because my pool of available cash got smaller and smaller).
One thing I asked for was a listing of what FA offers you have outstanting - why this feature got left out when it was in prior versions is a mystery to me. The computer should make stuff easier for us to do (i.e., keeping track of stuff) rather than more difficult. |

Yeah... I would definately like a way to quickly see which Free Agents I have offered contracts to. I would also like to be able to see ones I have made Waiver offers to and ones I am trying to trade for, plus see the players that I am trading for them.
Recently I have just been shortlisting everyone, which helps me keep track of the ppl that I have an interest in but doesn't tell me anything about my level of involvement with them. Not to mention that I have to shortlist and unshortlist manually... |
