How are you using OOTP?
I'm interested in the type of leagues people are currently running or preparing tro run.

I'm working on creating a fictional 24-team league populated with major leagues from 2004.

I tried to make this a poll but I seem to have spent too long making it.

I am using it as a weapon of mass distruction.
I blow up so many universes it is silly. Next testing mode would be as commisioner, fictional, 1 league, 2 subs, 3 levels of minors, and with NO DH, simming week to week. |

I have been trying to play the MLB with it, emphasis on the word trying.

I have just been running simple test leagues trying to get myself used to the game. As I get more and more comfortable I'm adding more features leagues. So far this getting my feet wet approach has been working out.

I started off small--16 team fictional league, starting in 1900. It was originally going to be a league just to see how things work, but then of course, I have grown attached to the teams and figure as the years go by I will build up the universe.

I have a fictional league with the USA (4 sets of minors and a winter league), Japan, and Mexico.

Starting of with a simple MLB structure with reserve roster until I get used to some aspects of the game. Later on importing an old OOTP6 league into a baseball universe of MLB, Korea, Japan and Mexico

Actually, OOTP is using me ...
fictional 2x3x48, started in 1905, currently simming for history, in 1944.

16 team fictional league (reserve clause alive) with a 24 team independent league (free agency alive). Players can jump from the indy league to the majors. Also use the indy's to test my custom created players for three seasons before bringing them over to the major league.

Testing/tweaking with 48-team fictional, running 100-year sims and checking stats. I'm also playing with logos, ballparks, and other eye candy. When I get everything close to what I like, I'll start running things a little more slowly. Then I hope to expand the universe into an even larger league, perhaps with farm teams.
For those who might ask, I'm blessed with a hot rod PC (Dell XPS 400, dual-core Pentium, 1GB RAM, 320GB RAID-0 storage), so a 100-year sim of a 48-team league takes about a day. I check the previous day's results in the evening, adjust the dials and knobs a little on my "template" league, save a new quickstart from the template, then build another test off of the new quickstart and start simming for the next day. |

Much to Killing Time's chagrin, I am playing the Cuban SNB. And it never rains for some reason.
I've also setup the Frontier League and have found it to be enjoyable. I will probably play MLB(with all of the minors) far down the road when the game is patched, but that will be secondary for me. |
