On the top menu, between manager and teams, your league, then transactions, then the player trade tab.

speaking of trades... had an odd incident this morning before I left for work...

I just started a historical sim starting with the 1903 season, stepping in as GM of the Cardinals. Before the sim even got to spring training, I was approached by Cleveland for a trade. They offered some less-than-mediocre player for one of my average relievers. I chose to discuss the trade further, to see if I could get someone better from them. Just for grins, I decided to swap out their guy for Addie Joss. The only issue was, the "submit trade offer" button at the bottom was still grayed out, but a "complete trade" button was lit up. I hit that one just to see what would happen. I got the usual "you'll be contacted in a few days with their response" box, but Joss was on my team already and my so-so pitcher was sent to Cleveland.

I had saved a back-up copy of the league, so I reloaded it from day 1 and started again. Oddly enough, a few months into the year, Cleveland again came offering a trade for the same pitcher (with a different so-so player this time). So I tried the discuss trade again, only this time, I swapped out their player with Joss and Nap Lajoie. This time, the "submit trade offer" was lit up, so I hit that. The next day, I got their response, and much to my surprise, they accepted it. I re-checked all my settings to make sure I wasn't in commish mode, or that I had trades set for the AI to prefer any one type of player over another.

Perhaps the Cleveland GM saw something in my pitcher that compelled him to offer two of his superstar players to get him.... still seems a bit odd to me.

How about shopping players by putting them on the trading block?

I read the trades section in the game guide but couldn't find anything.

Can you shop players in the game?
