Arrow Shiba League Needs Two!

The Shiba League, currently in its 27th season, needs owners for the Montreal Royals and Los Angeles Angels. We use real MLB players. We are currently in the 1973 season.

The Shiba League started in March of 2002 with OOTP4; we're currently using v6.5. We have no immediate plans to migrate to OOTP2006.

The Royals are at the bottom of the heap, but with players like Dewey Evans and George Brett in their minors, they're only a few years away from competing. The Angels have a solid offense, led by Tony Conigliaro, but are in dire need of some pitching. A much easier project than the Royals, most likely.

Coaches and scouts are turned off.

Here are a few unique items about the league:

Financials

The financials are screwed down fairly tightly. Change that -- very tightly. It seems that most leagues pay lip service to financials, but it is a key part of the Shiba league. Managing your finances is as important as drafting effectively and trading shrewdly. Letting your payroll get out of hand will definitely drive your team into the ground.

Contract extensions are done by an "arbitration" spreadsheet which can be found on the main page. Once the player's details have been entered, the file returns the corresponding contract requirements for a 1-5 year deal. These amounts are 'take it or leave it.' There are no negotiations with extensions. This is mainly meant to save time by avoiding the 'three strikes and you're out' extension process that's used with the OOTP game.

League Structure

Originally we tried to maintain historical accuracy with franchise moves, ballparks, and league size/structure. As the league has matured, sticking to the late 60's format has become at little tedious. We are currently organized into two league of seven teams. Before the 1967 season, we 'migrated' all exisiting American League and National League teams to Pacific Coast League and International League teams. The change was solely cosmetic.

As the availability (or lack) of quality owners dictates, we'll expand/contract the league as necessary.

Sim Schedule

Sims are typically held on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. During the bulk of the season we sim 2 weeks worth of games at a time. Seasons typically last 6-7 weeks including the post-season and off-season.

Thanks,
Mark

edit: Oh yeah, we also have every year of history (1947-1972) in the Catobase. Woot.

LA Angels have been filled. The Montreal Royals are still available.

The openings have been filled. I'm toying with the idea of expanding by two teams, so if you're interested, drop me a line.
