Monster Ruth
As this is my first historical sim, I don't know how unusual this is, but the Bambino was just a monster.

Funny. In one of my historicals Ruth hit 84 HRs in that same year, 1922. He hit .405 with 180+ RBIs to go along with that.

I've had him hit 202 RBIs in a season, but his best HR record was 70.

In my recent sim, Ruth topped out at 65 HRs and 143 RBIs in 1922. He finished as the All-time leader in 10 categories including HRs (942) and RBIs

Obviously one needs to tweak the beer and hotdog ingestion modifiers to bring the games played and atbat totals back into a realistic arc.

In 1922 in our reality, Ruth missed 44 games. Perhaps with a full season under his belt and lack of development for other players, he gets the lion's share of the allocated homers

Ruth played from 1918-1936 in my league and put up some very impressive stats as well. I had to manually edit his ratings at the end of his career otherwise he would've ended up sticking around quite a while longer. He still had a 90+ rating in contact, power, and eye in 1936.
He finished with 3581 hits, 839 HRs, 2408 RBIs, .321 AVG, and an OPS of 1.063. |

Ruth had pretty modest numbers for me. Pretty average career - only 294 hrs with a season high of only 28. I switched him from pitcher to RF in 1919, but I guess he never really developed.
Williams and DiMaggio have been monsters though. DiMaggio won the triple crown three times, Williams once (and still going as of 1946). Oddly Williams won MVP the years DiMaggio won the triple crown! Must be a programmer who wants to rectify the Williams snub of 1941! |
