Pause between batters while playing a game

Has anyone else experienced the pause between batters when playing out a game? This is almost like 2 seperate pauses because first the games pauses to move to the next batter and then there is a pause before the action buttons appear. I have not been able to reduce this at all and it really detracts from the fun of playing out a game.

I think it happens because it's loading situational stats. Reducing the stat detail level helps the pause a bit.

This is exactly the reason. I beginning to get used to it, and the situational stats have been worth it.

Yeah, same here. The stats more than make up for the pause for me, too.

Me too, although I wish that there would be pitcher vs. batter stats on the main play screen (you know, the one that's not the webcast...drawing a blank...). That's the reason for the delay and the information isn't readily available from that screen, which is too bad.

If this is the reason, there does not seem to be any significant changes to the delay at the various stats settings. I tried them all and did not really notice much of a difference.

I'm not sure of course, but I think the AI might be doing some decision making loops in that time also. For instance, I see it hesitate and display the pitchers name in this time (as the batter), then replace him with a pitch hitter ... all during this pause. And things like the Defensive infield positioning will flash up in this time. It does make sense that that AI would need to check and make its own decisions based on the updated situation after the last pitch.

This has been posted to the bug tracking system for review, but it's definitely not something that will change in the patch due to be released today.

Mine was dealying about 4 seconds before getting the batting \ pitching options.
I set my antivirus (Norton) to NOT scan the ootp folder and had the delay
drop to about 2 seconds. Before making ootp an exception for Norton the defensive setting boxes would come back one at a time. After changing Norton's settings they now come back at the same time.

May be my imagination but I also belive swithching between broadcast and webcast screens is also faster.

If this can't be fixed I can live with it due to the extra stats we now get. However I certainly won't complain if Markus can find a solution.

Ah ha. I was wondering who left the comment. Well, not who, as such, but where from.

Glad you enjoyed it.
