Projected Budget

Does anyone know where the projected budget number comes from? I've been trying for 20 minutes to get to the value using the other numbers. I'm I just being dumb, or is it not a straight forward number to calculate?

From the game guide:

Projected Balance - Your project balance at the end of the season. Calculated as your current budget minus your staff and player payrolls.

This what you were looking for?

Did you have more expensive players that you may have traded away? Your 7 Million in the hole right now based on your current financail overview. That might be your problem.

I made one trade in the off season, but it was before preseason started, so doesn't that count as part of last season. (As in the trade was on january 5th, where as everything flips over to the new year on january 31st if i remember correctly.)

I am having a similar problem. I assumed that bonuses were included. I don't have many expensive salaries, but I used large potential bonuses to try & get guys to sign. All of the sudden my budget was a mess, but how many middle relievers have won the CY Young or backup OF the MVP?

I actually haven't used bonuses in this league. I have coaching and scouting off, which makes me wonder where the staff payroll comes from anyway.

Not sure if this helps, but I started a test to see if I could figure out what was going on here.

I started a new game on Jan 2:

Staff Payroll: 3,587,900
Player Payroll: 44,673,500
Budget: 53,000,000
Projected balance: 3,898,600

So according to the formula, the projected balance should be 4,738,600, which is a difference of 840,000. In the Current Financial section, it lists Player Expenses as 0 and staff Expenses as 840,000, equal to the difference.

Sorry if this is confusing.

But that still doesn't add up for my game. Is this a bug? Or is there a formula that is not apparent to me, as I am trying all sorts of combinations of adding to get that number?

I checked it periodically throughout the season and it was always a different number, just not as drastic as in your case. By the time I got to the end of the playoffs, the formula worked. There must be something going on here that we can't see. Maybe it changes based on your attendance, or maybe your projected merchandising revenue fluctuates?

I've simmed a little more and i noticed it changes too, which means it must change with attendance and what not. I personally would like to know what it is, so i know what to expect.

Paging Markus Heinsohn......would you be so kind as to let it be known what this formula is?
