2006 MLB Mock Draft

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...aft/index.html

They've got two UNC pitchers going in the top five, and me likey that.

Funny thing is, I don't think I'd ever seen an MLB mock draft prior to this one. For people who wish they could more closely follow it, this is the kind of stuff that should be very helpful in getting to know the players involved.

As an A's fan it's kinda strange to see ZERO Oakland picks in the first round, and nothing till the end of round 2.

Thanks to Esteban Loaiza

Baseball America has a mock draft up, but I think it is subscription only. (Usually they release part of it for free, though.)

Sickels has a very very mock draft on his site (www.minorleagueball.com) that is really only good for introducing the player names. He also has done some profiles on guys recently, but nothing with as much depth as BA.

Also, Mike Emeigh at BTF has collected a number of stroies in some recent threads that really highlight a lot of the names and daft board movement.

Lucky for us this is supposedly the weakest draft in years.

And according to this mock draft on MLB.com, Miller is going to fall out of the top ten entirely.

His salary demands much be outrageous because I can't imagine the Mariners would pass on him when they have him rated as their #1 guy and have plenty of money to sign a first round pick.

I am not so sure that will happen, with the new GM in KC after the draft, they might go ahead and draft him anyway. The Royals would be stupid not picking Miller up.. no matter what the demands. Although I forgot about that former Dodgers draftee going back into the draft...

But then again... I don't work for David (duh...) Glass either.

BA has projected the Royals to take Hochevar -- and are sticking to it today. BA was fantastic last year, and while this year they'll probably not be as good (talent isn't as obvious this year), I'll have my money follow them.

FWIW, Hochevar is probably more talented than Miller.

Well, money was going to be the issue wasn't it? As dumb as Baird was, money wasn't his concern... that's still Mr. Glass' issue.

I do hope you're right though... for KC's sake.

What are the 'makeup' issues with Kyle Drabek? It's all very cryptic.

And BA was right!

BTW: BA wrote up a story on Drabek the other day. I didn't read it, but from reports, it appears that not much is there.

Miller dropped to the Tigers because of his bonus demands.
