Wow... $9 million dollar guy = career ending injury

Ok here's the deal, the league I am in the commissioner every off-season creates some knockout players to help add to the league.

I signed one of these pitchers to a 4-year deal worth $9,000,000

I just looked and in the 1st year of his deal he suffered a torn rotator cuff which is listed as a career ending injury.

Now am I going to be responsible for his salary for the next 3 seasons?

If so I think that's a bit ridiculous. There should be somewhere in the game where we can create an insurance settlement or just be able to cut the player with no penalty.

Basically the game is telling me to pay $27,000,000 over the next 3 years to somebody not playing anymore.

Even the Orioles aren't paying Belle, the money he's collecting is all from the insurance clause in his deal.

Are you saying this happened or you are wondering if you are responsible for the salary?

A player with a CEI will retire at the end of the season and you won't be responsible for any salary beyond the season where he suffered the injury.

Just make sure you don't release him before he retires (like the AI does) and be responsible for his salary. Just sit him on the DL until the end of the season, and he'll retire.

Yep, that's happened to me more than once. Freaked me out after I signed a player to a 7 year, $10 million dollar extension only to have him go down the same month.. Leave him on the DL, and he'll retire. You'll obviously still have to pay him for the current season, but the rest of it isn't your problem..
