How can I import historical players into the draft. Is there a dtatbase I need to download or something?

Thanks!

I have already started a league and simmed 10 seasons, can I still do this?

Mr. Kuffrey,
When I first heard about OOTP 2006, I was on the baseball-reference.com page and read that I could import stats from their site. Why isn't that the case? I can at least understand those stats due to the lack of comma placement.

To further Mackmasterson's question, is it possible to select players from different seasons to form "all-star" leagues by importing rather than editing EVERY player? Markus said that I would be able to when I asked prior to pre-ordering, but it isn't looking so good as I continuously attempt to.

I apologize to Mackmasterson if you feel that I have hi-jacked your post. Hopefully, you were curious about this as well so we could kill two birds with one stone.

There was an ad banner up at baseball-reference, but I don't remember anybody ever saying that their stats would be importable. AFAIK, it's always been just the Lahman database - if you want a version of the Lahman database that's a little more readable, you can download the Access version (or open up the CSV files with Excel).

The .CSV files, however, are the only ones that OOTP is capable of understanding.

Technically, I think that baseball-reference is based on the Lahman database, so you are essentially importing their stats by using the db in your game.

I'm not sure of the article or ad that you read but being part of the development team I'm certain that I would know if the option you speak of was ever a planned part of the game and I can tell you that this was never a published possible option. It may have been discussed or thought about (I am NOT saying that it was but it could have been a possible consideration). I think that you are probably thinking of the Lahman db which is what is mentioned in various other places on the board and game documentation.

I have downloaded Lahman 5.3 and am using the .CSV. Is there anyway to begin importing AFTER I have simmed 10 seasons or so?
Thanks!

Yeh this is the same database so I understand the confusion but you can just download it from baseball1.com and copy it to c:/stats like in ootp6
