Minor Leagues with both affiliated and non-affiliated teams
I decided to run a wacked out universe to start out. I have a major league with 2 conferences, 2 divisions each, 4 teams per division. Then I have a 16 division minor league with 10 teams in each division with a 32 team playoff. I also have various sized, quite large, AA, A, SA, and a 4 team R league. The game does well in randomly attributing affiliations to various minor league teams, so most teams have 3 AAA, 4 AA, a few A and so on. The problem comes in free agency. The Major League is governed by financials and has a 70,000,000 salary cap. When free agency came around I was surprised by the stupid amounts of money being spent, not because the AI was spending money on garbage, but because one team had completed an 80M+ deal, a 100M+ deal, and a 120M+ deal. This should not happen due to the team not having enough cash, and because of the salary cap. Once I investigate I saw that the team spending all the money was an unaffiliated minor league team, and I went to check their financials and the screen said there are no financials in use in that particular league. This screws everything up because now all the top talent leaves the Major League and takes huge contracts with minor league teams. The minor legaue teams can spend as much money as they want because they have no budget or expeneses. It is like they just print their own money.
