playoff/wildcard issue

i noticed that when i ran a default "Major American League" and it came time for the playoffs, that the wildcard team played the division winner in its own division. isnt this not allowed per MLB rules?

You are right this is not consistent with MLB rules, but the game does allow it because it matches the wild card in a 3-division setup simply against the top division winner.

Changing this to match MLB has been requested in previous versions. Now however you can have a 10-division setup with 6 wild cards, a 4-division setup with 4 wild cards, etc. and trying to apply that same rule would be problematic.

Still, there has to be a way to fix this for the traditional MLB playoff setup. I personally HATE it when the Wild Card team plays its own divisional winner. There are so many reasons why this shouldn't and doesn't happen IRL MLB.
