Maybe not as long as you think...

That would be one of the more impressive undertakings that I've seen, thats somewhere north of 3,000 players for an entirely new game. v5 to v6 was a big enough difference to cause problems as far as rosters go, the difference between v6 and the new game I would imagine are even greater. If it does pop up quickly around here I would be very impressed, I know how much work goes into it.

If this happens, it means one of the beta testers did it
but if so, they should say something, it would only help Markus and Marc with first day sales

There are plenty of 2006 rosters available, made for OOTP 6.5. I don't understand why everyone is afraid of using these, at least for the days/weeks until someone comes out with a new set.

Im not sure, but do any of the 2006 rosters for 6.5 include full minor leagues?

Also, one reason people might be afraid of using them is that they don't quite know what the process of converting the league to 2006 from 6.5 will do to the rosters/ratings.

Question Will this version of OOTP come with a player creation module?

I had hoped that this version would include the MLB rosters like the SI NHL Hockey game does. I am somewhat disappointed that it does not. However if it has a player creation module that is easy to use I may attempt to make MLB and minor league rosters based off of available statistics.

Too bad this game did not come out March 11th, cause that was the first day of my 83 day long weekend (I resigned from my last job on the 10th of March). I start my new job on June 1st.....

Oh well I will just try and enjoy it tomorrow with the fictional players, something I have never done before.

The 6.5 rosters will be used by everyone for a while. the problem is things don't convert exactly from version to version. Some players will be ok, some may be rated alot different than they were in the old version. I think the major problem from v5 to v6 conversion was the pitcher control. alot of guys converted to basically 0 control which completely ruined a big percentage of prospects. With a complete rewrite the differences are so big who knows exactly how smoothly things will convert.

Yeah but the rosters aren't exact in the first place. First, it's just third party modders making them (love them for their work, but they aren't experts); and second, the game is inherently variable anyways.

You're not going to get an exact MLB to OOTP translation. For me, once I get the player names, rosters, and fairly accurate ratings; I'm good -- the rest is chance, anyways.

Why not just start a historical game in the year 2005 using the Lahman Database ... wouldnt that work?

Putting the rosters together is a ton of work. If you want to wait to buy the game until those rosters are out, that's your choice. I might suggest playing it with fictional players though. At least for me, it shouldn't be a deal breaker...

I will definitely be scouring the forum later today for the most updated rosters.

And then I will gleefully edit them to my specifications. Probably a little bit too much, actually.

Man, it's close to time ... very close ...

I'm not sure if he wanted me to mention this or not, I hope I'm not stepping on his toes by doing this, but I thought I'd give a heads up.

Rolen17 (Erich Ingram) and myself have begun work (actually he did most of the insanely hard work, I have jumped on at the end to help him out) on a roster set for 2006 with complete minor leagues. Erich has already created all of the players that were on every MLB and minor league roster right now, and the only other part we have to do is go through and get everyone at the correct levels and ratings correct. They look VERY good right now as is though. I'm crunching until release to try and get something put together, though I doubt it will be ready by then. But I doubt the first release will be much after today.

I haven't talked to him more about it lately, so I don't want to elaborate. But please realize that they are on the way.

That is great news! I had a feeling someone was working on them behind the scenes. Look forward to the first release.

Sorry to bring up an old thread (especially sorry to those who thought that this bump was going to have the roster in it ) but I can't/don't want to wait any longer, so I'll be buying the game later on tonight...anyway 2 questions:

1) If I use Lahman's roster, I can play with the 05 MLB roster right?

2) I understand that liscesing players costs money, but doesn't SEGA already have the liscense for the MLB roster for 2k6/7? They can't use it in another game?

hey guys, this is the 1st version that I'm buying and I'm pretty overwellmed by everything at the moment, so when somebody has finished the rosters and is going to give them to other people, i'd appreciate it a lot if someone tells me (pm or something) because I dont know where to look.

THANKS A LOT!!
