What is the best American Football simulation game?

I'm interested in purchasing an American Football simulator like Front Office Football 2004 or Bowl Bound. However I'm not aware of what else is on the market. What is the best simulator to buy if I was only going to get one?

The best college game is definitely Bowl Bound. I don't know a lot about FOF but it's obviously popular. I can't really compare the two then but I have BBCF and love it.

Bowl Bound College Football (BBCF), Total Pro Football (TPF), and the Front Office (college and pro) games are the only text sims I know of.

BBCF is better than FOF College, but FOF Pro is better than TPF. I could never get with TPF because all the stats are skewed about 20% higher than normal. TPF would be the better game if not for that. I'm hoping Grey Dog Software can come up with an improved version of TPF at some point.

TPF isnt available now.

BB rocks, however.

I agree %100 (FOF2K4) and the you can by the college version alled "The College Years" and then import them into the pro version (FOF2K4. It's awesome.

if you are only looking for a management game then i would rate them this way

bowl bound - good game that is going to get better

fof- pro game. solid game that is very little fun to play

tcy - college version of fof. this game is so filled with repititious busy work that you will think of it as a job.

if you want to play a replay only game action pc and som are pretty good.

HA! Define fun? Graphics? No, FOF doesn't have the graphics that BB or what TPF has/had to offer but thats not what we all really want now is it? I mean, FOF by FAR has the best football sim engine and management engine that I've ever seen. If you like statistics then FOF is the cream of the crop, The King of Kings, and the only player in town with the statistical depth that football fans could ever hope for.

Want to see a players stats who was drafted in the first round and went 6th overall in the 1965 draft? In FOF2K4 you can do that. Hell, I've had a 1st pick who was touted "coming out of college *FOF:TCY" as on of the best corners to ever see the feild only to get injured in his thried game ever played, got hurt for the rest of his rookie season - his ratings dropped, got hurt again in the first game ofhis second season and the retired. Yea, a 25 yr old "stud" retired and FOF2K4 allows one to look up any players stats even if the player only played one snap in one game. If you are llooking for a very solid sim engine with GM written all over it then FOF2KJ4 is your game. If you want graphics go try and find TPF. However, I'd be willing to bet that the creator of FOF will be updating the interface of FOF and we all may be pleasantly surprised. I use The College Years to get my rookies to be imported over into FOF2K4. I've drafted "Heismen" Trophy winners only to be let down by a less then average career. Thats reality and fun because scouting is very important in FOF2K4 and in order to suceed in FOF2K4 you must scout and learn the business. Besides that, the FOF has tons of great utilities that gives the game an awesome array of tools to use.

I've considered buying front office football for a long time but I can't ever get anyone to tell me where all of the NFL mods are for it. As far as I can tell it's not supported by third parties like OOTP is and the only real way I'd bother with it is if I could play with the NFL players.

Can someone tell me where all the FOF mods are stored? Pretty please with sugar on top??

You may want to go to EA's website and check out NFL Headcoach. It's under development with a June 20 release date.

EA Sports NFL Head Coach looks unreal. It is kind of like Madden only for our kind of taste....meaning less emphasis on how fast you are with your thumbs and fingers but rather how much you enjoy the strategy of football. I cant wait until June 20th. I am definitely buying it. I just need to decide what team I should take over. I am going to try and be realistic and only consider jobs that in real life were open this offseason. Using that I have narrowed my choices down to Green Bay, Houston, or Buffalo. The cool thing is the sim picks up right after the Super Bowl so your first order of business is to sign free agents and then the draft. I may take over The Texans and do the smart thing and draft Reggie Bush. Anyway, the game looks incredible. For those of you who have not heard check out the EA website

Arlie of Greydog has already stated that he's planning on a pro football sim release in the not-too-distant future. I'm thinking around either September or another near Christmas release like TPF was. I've purchased both FOF and TPF and enjoy playing TPF much more than FOF. FOF is just too bland for me and has a terrible layout. I think a new version of FOF is in the works as well, but nothing has been made official. June 20th is going to be a great day when NFL Head Coach comes out though.
