Starting a serious career

Are you guys going to wait for an update or a patch before starting a serious career or are you going to start one right away? I plan on doing a few test leagues first, lke I've done in previous versions, and then wait for the first patch/update - which hopefully will expand on the leaderboards such as post-season leaders and milestones, ect.

I'll spend the first month figuring out how to use the new version and figuring out how it works and how that pertains to setting up my desired universe. If that means I end up waiting until after the first patch, that's fine, but it won't really be intentional.

same here, i think. a lot of tinkering, running practice seasons to see how things work, before i jump into creating the leagues ive been working on for the past few months. i wouldnt be suprised to see a minor patch released early on to address minor bugs and quirks, hopefully by that time ill be ready to go for real

I will probably wait a few hours. Right now I am finishing up the final season in the league I want to take into OOTPBB 2006 so I will have that ready to go. Likely what I will do is spend a few hours figuring everything out, creating test leagues, simming, etc.

I will then see if there are any major issues and go from there. Hopefully I will be able to spend the majority of Thursday playing my league in the new game

It's a nice thought to start out just "testing", and I plan on doing that, but by Thursday afternoon I'll be full into a serious league. I just can't help it!!!

A bunch of test leagues, then when the update comes I will play for real starting in the 1870's up to the present day and on...to the future!

Nice...just don't touch anything if you go backwards in time, then we may never get this game!

Agree with this 100%. I like to play out games and, with the new gamecast type screen, my league will probably still be in the first month of the season when the first update comes out.

I likely will start a 2006 MLB league with a horribly inaccurate league file, posting openings with alias after alias, get a free message board and free web hosting with plenty of ads to tempt owners, consummate many trades and get a few lineups submitted, become irate at an owner's charge of cheating, get even madder when other owners take that owner's side, and shut the league down.

Then, on June 1st, I will do it all over again using a different alias.

By the time the first patch has been released on the 7th, I will have done enough tinkering and testing, and will settle down with a fully-detailed, comprehensive solo fictional league.

Thanks in advance for all the testing assistance I'll be receiving. Look for my league opening post soon!

Exactly, plus the only way for me to find bugs that would affect how I play is by playing how I play.

I'll probably wait to see how things go and what sort of fixes are needed before I buy the game.

Agreed. No other way but to experience everything first hand

This quote is kind of ironic isn't it?

I plan on spending at least a few days learning the new interface, playing some games out pitch-by-pitch and some in one-pitch mode. Once I get the hang of the interface, I want to import my solo league from OOTP6.5 and see how that goes.

It really depends on what kind of issues arise in the release before I'll commit to really playing out my imported league.
