Catobase not showing Draft Picks
I have run 3 seasons of Catobase and I am noticing that Catobase does not list all of the players drafted each season. It seems to pick up a few guys who were drafted, then misses a couple rounds, then picks up some more guys later.
Is there something I should be doing to make sure all of the players show up? I am running the newest version of Cato. Thanks Doc |

Do the missing players have a line like this:
Drafted in 1st round, 3rd overall pick, by Atlanta in 2007 in their player history? |

Here is an example of what I am talking about:
Batters Help Minor League stats are shown for players without Major League stats. Rd Pick By Player G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO AVG OBP SLG OPS OWS 1 1 MON Roberto Alomar 312 1155 208 369 61 20 30 193 146 48 129 118 .319 .387 .485 .872 43.2 1 25 CIN Luis Alicea 295 934 129 237 44 8 15 97 37 28 99 135 .254 .330 .366 .696 15.9 1 26 SLN Damon Berryhill 111 233 16 50 16 2 3 29 0 1 14 40 .215 .267 .339 .606 1.3 3 55 CAL Pat Borders 16 41 4 10 0 0 1 5 0 1 2 8 .244 .295 .317 .613 0.1 3 57 BAL Lance Blankenship 273 1072 126 270 44 6 17 87 34 15 117 158 .252 .337 .352 .689 3 70 NYA Dave Clark 11 24 2 7 3 0 0 2 0 0 0 6 .292 .292 .417 .708 0.5 4 79 MON Sil Campusano 269 1001 118 278 50 6 26 132 3 11 103 160 .278 .362 .418 .780 4 82 LAN Tom Barrett 273 1074 106 245 29 4 14 91 6 15 123 164 .228 .308 .302 .609 I know the above is tough to read because it didn't transfer well but it only shows 8 batters and 16 pitchers from a draft that went 5 rounds deep for 24 teams, clearly that is a problem. The players who do not appear also do not have any player bio information in Catobase but they DO have player bio info in OOTP. Any ideas? |

I thought this as well, too. Batters and pitchers are in different sections, and though it looks like there are missing players, they're just in the other section.

But even on the team pages it shows nobody being drafted. Here is an example:
Number in pararenthesis indicates round player was drafted. Year Pick 1 Pick 2 1987 (104-58) 1988 (107-55) Berryhill (1) Cecena (4) 1989 (114-48) It only shows players being drafted in 1988 but the other two years are empty. I am confused. |

Send me the data files for the 1989 season and the p###.txt files. There are alot of text files, but once zipped, they don't take up a lot of space. I'll take a look and see what the problem is.

Giving this a bump to see if anybody else has run into a problem like this since I just have also.
Here is what happened for me as best as I can tell. It was the first season of a new 24-team solo league with the initial draft being 36 rounds. For 20 of the teams all of the draft picks are noted on the team draft history page and on the year's drafted players lists, but for 4 of the teams there is nothing at all. Yet when looking at their pages, the players on those teams with no draft info showing have the draft note down in the history section, so that seems to have imported fine. I suppose I'll try starting over and reimporting everything to see if it works on a second try, but I figured it would not hurt to see if anyone had seen this and been able to do anything about it. |

I just noticed this in our latest Maelstrom season. In past seasons the draft info came in just fine, but the most recent season has huge gaps in coverage.

I just tried deleting that first season from the database, reimporting everything, then doing the HTML, and that did not change anything.
I hadn't tried the draft picks, or even just player histories with this latest CatoBase version, and I don't have Access or anything to try to check the guts of the database. Could this possibly fix itself in a future season when the importing occurs? No biggie, just one of those things where since CatoBase is so great that it's a groaner when it isn't perfect. |

The same thing happened to me in the NGBL. Cato has worked fine for the draft until the latest season. It's not the HTML generation. I looked in the MDB and the draft records are missing for all the missing picks on the page. Must be something with the parsing but nothing sticks out at me as different when I look at the player histories...

I'm trying to clean up the cato files for our league and I've searched but can't find the solution to this problem. |
