Ping: Markus - Question(s) regarding patches/updates

Markus, lets say we start a serious career with the initial release of OOTPBB2006 and then you add some cool features later on such as Milestones/Rare-Feats, other types of leaderboards, ect will the new features be able to read from the data stored in the database or where ever it is stored and be used immediately in the new features OR will we have to start new careers if we want old player(s)/team(s) and/or their history to be seen/utilized in the feature(s)?

I "think" we had to restart our careers if we wanted to see past players included in new features - I think, but since the data is stored in a much more efficient way this time such as databases, ect will we be able to get around this issue?

Thanks.

I would think it would totally depend on the feature and what would have to be done to implement it. I doubt Markus could predict this.

I am a bit worried about starting a league and get really invovled with it only to learn that the patch will come out in about 2-4 weeks and then I will have to start from scratch. But not worried enough to not want to dive head first into the game!

I don't think there's much to worry about with regard to leagues being made obsolete by patches. I think it's more likely that you might see a statistical issue where something is out of line and then corrected making for somewhat of a discontinuity in the very early history of your league. It probably won't bother me very much but most people are more anal about the statistical realism of their leagues than I am.

For the past six weeks (I could be wrong the exact time lines) the data format has not changed during testing. Hopefully that will continue for the patches

I'm also guessing that most people will be playing around with and testing a lot of things on this game before they actually start a real world. It's in our hands, but there's a lot of it there. (Marc, do I get $ for using the slogan?)

Marc,

They are worried about pages that are written as accomplishments happen. For example, in the previous OOTP's there was a page that listed all the no hitters in the league. But, the way the old OOTP works they were written as they happened.

What they are concerned about here, is that right now the pages to record achievements are not in OOTP 06. They want to know that if when they are a feature in the game, if you have a league that has been running for 20 sim years, will the page display only the new accomplishments or will it be able to go back and show all the no hitters in the history of the league.

Nothing has been removed, it just has not been implemented yet. This is a brand new version, its not the old version. So everything has to be added all over again.

Which would mean that what was once in the game in 6.5 is now not in 2006, and thus removed. I understand it may be re-introduced in a later version, but this is a game years in the making. How can such classic screens be taken out, like these, and the financial reports, I don't get it.

OOTP 06 is not an upgrade to a 6.5. It is an entirely new game, written from the ground up. There for nothing has been removed.

Because this game has nothing to do with previous versions code-wise.

Is it so difficult to understand? Nothing was taken out. Some things just were not put in the new game because a) the day has only 24 hours, and b) I have only two hands.
