Cool Props to Markus!

Instead of another question that I can wait a few days to answer my self or some imporvements I want to see, I just want to show my appreciation for Markus.

I always wanted to create a fictional baseball universe where I can have seasons upon seasons, doing trades, signing free agents, managaing, gm duties, stats, etc. Growing up this would have been almost impossible and my pencil eraser use to rip through the paper after awhile trying to keep stats that way playing board games like Statis Pro Baseball by Avalon Hill. I thought I would never get to have that fun.

Years later in the mall I saw & bought Season Ticket Baseball a few years ago and was blown away. I tried the other popular pc games that really weren't my cup of tea. After a while I wondered why I never saw a newer version come out in stores so I looked under the developers name Markus Heinsohn and googled him. I found the wonderful world of ootp. Long story short, I bought 6 & 6.5. Each new version better much better the the previous. I think the 2006 version will be truly unbelievable. I feel like a kid again.

Just to think that it took a guy from Europe to bring me American's Pastime in the way I wanted to see to play it.
Props to Markus!

Thats what I say. Typical comment. You can't comment either negativly or positivly on this forum it appears. So you're just screwed.

Wow brother I was joking...hence the smiley face. I've been known to compliment Markus on more than one occasion. It's real easy...allow yourself to laugh, even if it's at yourself once in awhile

And for the record, I agreed with all that you said...never once have I had a negative thing to say towards Markus, Marc, or the game in general.

I guess my knees are sore, too.

And every OOTPB fan in my house is going full blast. I call them Markus#1, Markus#2, Markus#3 and Markus#4...in honor of the greatest baseball developer in the known and unknown world.

Fine post, Charley Hustle.

(maybe he will get rid of those terrible faded logos over text, now)

Not a big deal Mattymo. Just wanted to send that message out to Markus because sometimes the board gets loaded with negativity.

Statis Pro Baseball was the greatest thing ever.

Especially since they included the formula you needed to make your own players. That was what my friends and I used to do before we discovered Tony LaRussa Baseball 2 and played the crap out of that. Back in 1994, right after graduating from high school, 3 of us created a 28-team purely fictional league. We made up everything, from the league name to the divisions to each team all the way down to creating each player from scratch. It took countless numbers of legal pads and posterboards keeping track of everything but we made it work.

Kids today have it so easy, thanks to Markus.

I thought I was the only one who did something like this... before the PC age took me away long long ago... This was nice to see someone else that took the time to create their own universe, even when it is time consuming

I still remember creating a player named Peter Heater that played for Cameroon (obviously, a pitcher) that we gave just absolutely disgusting abilities in strikeouts. I believe his PB rating was a mere 2-7, but then anything from 18-56 on his card was a strikeout. Something like that. He'd usually go 6-7 innings/game and end up with 15+ strikeouts every time he pitched.

Peter Heater. I'm so re-creating that guy in OOTP. And I bet I can make him from Douala, Cameroon!

Good Lord, I'm going to have to pull that game out again sometime. Despite OOTP's brilliance, can you ever really replace the classics?

Oh man, does that bring back the memories. Fast action cards, Ron Guidry and a 2-9 (what's that? He's going to be HOT today? 2-10!) You're right. There were never enough quadrule pads to keep those stats together. And never enough erasers, either. Good times. But after May 30, the best of times are coming.

I did exactly the same thing. I loved the old Statis Pro Game with legal pads....... Ohh the fun of it all. I actually took and glued the players baseball card to the back of the statis pro card so I had their picture also. Now we can play fictional universes and really run a team. I wish I had OOTB today, I am off until Monday.
