AHIBA in Search of New Owners

AHIBA (Alan Hale Jr. Internet Baseball Association - www.ahiba.net) has been around since early 1997 with a lot of storied tradition (we originally started with Front Page Sports Baseball). In 1999 we started playing using High Heat Baseball, and eventually migrated all the teams and players to OOTP a year or so ago. We are just finishing the 2015 post-season and enter our 2016 pre-season.

AHIBA currently uses OOTP 6.12 as the game engine, so what makes AHIBA unique from other OOTP leagues?

1. Out of the game financial system. Our financial system is tried and true. Our salaries for players are tied to their contribution to the team and we maintain a salary cap. It’s a challenge every season to keep a winning team together year after year allowing a great deal of parity.

2. Interactive Free Agent Auction and Player Draft. Our auction allows owners to bid using strategy without having to do a live auction for hours on end. The player draft is live, but it is very easy to submit a list that is followed using a computer automation system to draft according to the list.

3. Very easy to stay involved without becoming consumed. Sure, you can be consumed if you have the time, but with 6 sim days a week and only 3 games per sim, you don't have to submit a new lineup every day (although it could help your chances to win).

4. Fairness through checks and balances. Our commisioner is a playing commish, but there is an independent committee setup to check all trades involving his team.

So how do you join? Well, we are looking for owners who are committed to being active, creative, with a strong analytical mind and a desire to win, and we’re happy to welcome people who are new or have less experience. Currently, we have five open teams, two of which are perennial playoff contenders. To inquire about open teams, contact our commish, "Bob" at ahiba.bob@snet.net and ask what teams are currently available. The current owners in the league have been with us for a long time, and are very helpful and friendly. It’s a laid-back league, played for fun, and I think you’ll enjoy it if you choose to participate.
