A few questions

Sorry if these have been answered. I haven't paid much attention to this forum until this week, since I have all of the patience of a 3 year old when it comes to new toys, and I knew getting into OOTP2006 fever too soon would be bad.

That said...

1. I know the star system is gone. Is there a cumulative goodness indicator of any sort? Not a big deal, except in fictional league fantasy drafts, which I can imagine becoming quickly unwieldy with the possible size of a 2006 universe.

2. Will 2006 have a better park generation system for fictional leagues than the old versions, which spit out cookie-cutter 50000 seat stadiums?

3. I'm guessing not, but... will the weather match the region to go along with that fancy new city database?

4. I know that in the minor leagues, you're manager-only with no GM control. Will there be a way to play the same way once you hit the majors? It's certainly not the primary way I'll play the game, but I think a manager-only career sounds really intriguing and realistic.

5. Those amusing and somewhat cheesy team names in all the screenshots... is the game generating those now for fictional leagues?

That's all I can think of for now. Certainly none of these are gamebreakers, and my mind is already set that I'll be playing this game the moment I wake up on the 31st, but I'm just curious about these things.

There is the SISA scouting system, but I don't know that there will be anything that gets broken down into one rating telling you how good a player is.

I don't know about the phyisical qualities of the parks, but the game will now generate park factors for fictional teams (they won't all be 100 like 6.5).

I don't know.

I think this is possible, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes.

Yeah, I saw that. No biggy if there's no overall rating. I've played most of my leagues without star rating turned on, so I can manage without it (no pun intended).

Cool! I hope so.

Awesome. I like a the flavor, and I'm not so big on having to think them up myself.

This may be the best thread to ask this question...

I've never experienced the manager mode in any previous version of OOTP, so I really have little understanding of how it works. I know some options involving it are flexible, but will it be possible to play as the GM and the manager w/o getting fired?

That is what your regular commish/God mode will allow.

But doesn't mode allow you to see each player's rating as it is, as opposed to whatever altered report your scouts give you?

Ideally, I would like to play as manager not knowing what each player's true ratings are w/o getting fired. Is this possible?

Only if you have scouts turned off. If scouts are still turned on, you will see the ratings from their reports.

And is it possible to play as manager w/o the possibility of getting fired?

I'm pretty sure, again, that's what God mode is. You can do anything you want. If you want to manage but not get fired, use God mode. If you want to play GM, use God mode. If you want to be both, or neither, use God mode.

I tried to search to see if this has been addressed or if anyone else has brought this up...

Under the career stats, it lists teams played for in a very confusing way. For example if a player is traded in 2011 it will show :

2010 - Team A
2011 - Team B
2011 - Team A

I believe it was this way in past versions of OOTP . It is not a big deal. However, if you have a player on your team who has had a 10-15 year, and has moved around a few times, it makes it very difficult to read and
follow.

Dont mean to thread jack but I am just a pathetic lurker who does not know better.

Many statistical websites, including ESPN, often use that format when displaying a player's stats when having played for multiple teams in one season. I agree it is very confusing and have never been able to understand why it is done that way.

In the old version it doesn't break it down by team per year, so that is nice. However, I agree that it can get a bit confusing, especially the career totals. It would be nice if there was a different "table" for each league or at least for major & minor leagues.
