Question about TBCB2 Purchase and Download

Hey guys. Thinking about purchasing TBCB2 for my Dad. Was wondering if I downloaded the game from OOTP if it would be completely up-to-date (i.e. latest fighter database, patches, etc.), or if I would have to go in and update the game manually. Would appreciate any info. Thanks.

The Latest Version

You need to download TBCB2 from the site and then download the latest patch which is version 2.0.27 which can be found at post #45 of the top thread of this forum (referencing said new patch). I think when you install the patch, you just need to make sure when you extract the files you put them in the same directory to which you installed TB2 files and everything should work out OK from there. The new patch has some fighters who were re-rated as of Jan 2006, an improved ranking system and an optional automatic aging feature. Be advised there are a couple of known bugs with the ranking feature, all of which have been discussed in the above-referenced thread (and also in a recent tech support thread). If you don't care about running a simulated universe though, the rankings stuff is probably somewhat superfluous.

I have the hard disk version 2.0.10 of the game, how do I download the latest patch? It asks for a order ID and I don't have one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No one is sure as to the reasons why but the patches are not compatible with the disk that Fusion sales. Not sure if it's a contract issue or what. You might try e-mailing the guy you bought it from. Didn't you say you bought from someone from Fusion?

So are the new patches worth buying the game again this time as a download from this site?

A new ranking system and auto-aging was included in the last patch. Also I believe there will be at least one more patch once OOTP is released. I would say yes but it's not my money.

I'll probably spend the money on booze and women, so to make my wife happy I'll buy the game again. So are you pleased with Sampson as the new Hoosiers coach?

I'm just okay with it. Can't be worse then Davis, at least Sampson can actually coach a little bit. We won't see 4 guys stand around the 3 point circle passing the ball around until the find the worst shot possible and fire it up.

The only thing Davis had going for him was he supposed to be a good recruiter and in the end he couldn't even do that. Sampson isn't a long term answer but he'll be better than Davis. We won't have two straight non-winning seasons with him.

Sorry you bought the CD as one of the biggest fanboys out there for this game, the support for the cd completely blows. I will not place blame because like I said before it could be something in the contract.

If you enjoy playing the CD version then spend the money it'll be worth it.

Mike
Of course we dont know the deal done between Fusion and OOTP
but in there talks between each other before a final deal was struck support must have been discussed. The only people who can make the patches is Andreas and OOTP not Fusion. So if the contract was that no support would be given in regard to patches from OOTP for CD buyers then they have to take the blame for making a bad deal. Of course if this is the case then i feel OOTP cheated the CD buyers and is a bad way to go about encouraging any future buyers to fork out money for any future boxing games from them.

On the other hand if OOTP did say they would support the CD version then they should honour that agreement and do it as soon as possible even if that means they we who bought it by download have to wait even longer for any more patches. As i have said many times we need every customer we can get for our boxing games to survive. Boxing fans like us here are now far and few enough as it is without driving away any future buyers.

For any CD buyers to have to buy this game again to get the full benefit of the game is an absolute disgrace. One way or another this has to be sorted out. Imagine how we would feel if it was only the CD version of the game that was being supported Mike. Lets be honest you and i would be going mad on here along with the rest of us.

Since we don't know what the deal with Fusion has in regards to supporting the Cd version is, so I'm not going to come down on OOTP about it. Yeah, having to buy the game twice really sucks, I feel sorry for the guys who buy it. If they don't got the time to make patches for the CD verison, maybe they could set something up so that the cats who buy it can download the game for free off the site or something.

I would hold off on re-buying the game. I would be very surprised and disappointed if OOTPD wouldn't sort this out for you one way or another. I'd check with them first.

I agree Danny ... just saying I don't want to start the fire at the witch's feet until I'm positive she's casting spells. I somewhat agree with Boozie, but the problem is that this issue has been brought up time and time again and to my knowledge they have never responded to it.

Thanks for your support on this one Mike. To me i sort of see us or anyone who buys this game be it on CD or download as joining an exclusive elite little club. To keep our membership numbers high and possible increase them. If we think a member has a valid point and is not moaning just for the sake of moaning i really feel we should offer a little support to them.
Cheers Mike.

PS -- Mike i cant remember if i told you about this but a while back my wife had a 12 ins long 10 lb tumour removed. The other week she had to go for the final results. Thankfully to put it in my words, lucky enough for us the bad had been contained in the removed tumour and all is now clear.
