NFL Single Game Rookie Rushing Record?

Is anyone able to tell me what the NFL record was for yards rushing in a single game by a rookie going into the 1983 season?

Strangely, this info doesn't appear to be available anywhere on the internet.

So far, I've narrowed it down to 1997. So find 1997 Rookie RB's. Prior to 97 it was Jim Brown with 237.

Thanks, magnet. I knew about Corey, but I didn't know that Brown held the record before him. Much appreciated.

At the time, November 1957, the 237 yards was also the NFL single game rushing yardage record. Until last season, the best rooke performance, next to that of Jim Brown, is 223 yards by Tom Wilson in 1956 which, by the way, was the former NFL single game rushing yardage record and also the rookie single game rushing yardage record.

148 on 27 carries. He actually topped it twice last year.
