Why can't I steal?

Why do my runners always hold up? So they might get thrown out, big deal. There's always that risk. I just pinch ran for Lou Gherig because I'm down one in the 9th. Put in a guy with 90+ in all 3 stealing/speed stats. No dice. He holds up and now I have a guy with a lifetime ba of .120 in my lineup for absolutely nothing. When I say steal, I mean steal, damnit - not go if the catcher decides to go get a frigging hotdog.

Grrrrr.

I wish there were 2 choices for stealing, go if you get the jump, and go no matter what.

Try using Hit-and-Run if you get too frustrated. That's what I do when this happens 14 times in a row.

These threads always bother me because it shows a clear lack of understanding the sport.

Very, very rarely will there be a "YOU MUST STEAL RIGHT NOW OR YOU WILL DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" sign from the coach. In reality, the sign is almost always saying "Go if you can get a lead/jump." There's a reason for the hold a runner rating.

I'm not sure there's ever been a major league manager who told a guy he absolutely had to try to steal on a particular pitch, outside of hit-and-runs.

I would like the option of the Run and Hit also. I steal no matter of lead and then the hitter having the option of swining or not. The Cardinals used to use that a lot and worked pretty good for them.

Agreed. BBPro had an option like this and I loved it.
