There shouldn't ever be a need to be sorry for asking a question. Everyone in here was, at one time or another, a... "newbie".
Hope you all get as much enjoyment out of the game as the rest of us. |

Here here !! (or is it "Hear hear") ??
Completely and totally agree. Between the support sites and us "roaming" the boards, there's always a way to find something out... and it's fun to watch whether ScottVib will beat everyone else to the answer Have fun and keep asking - one of these days the newbies will be providing the answers !! Way to go Warren. Most of the community is more than happy to add to the OOTP tribe and welcome newcomers. As in any group it helps to remember there all always differing opinions and that in itself makes the comunity and ootp better. Its how we deal with those opinions that defines how ootp and other games will be received. More of us letting what Tresclub stated be shown to all new and old will eventualy put a mark on our gaming commmunity as much in some ways as the game itself.

This is so true about this board. Everyone here is usually very helpful and there's not many questions about OOTP that are stupid. Even when a newbie does ask one of the few that are stupid they are usually let down easy by the vets of the board.
There are some text sim boards where the veterans can be VERY brutal to newbies. Newbies, be grateful this board is above that. As long as you post as a fan of the game and remain positive you will always do fine here. If you come in here and hate on OOTP or it's developers things may be a little different.

Okay, well here's one. Why is it that when I view the retired players list, there are multiple numbers of any particular player?
Is there a way to delete them? Thanks |

That being said, there are ignorant questions and there are stupid questions. Ignorant questions are fine; as for stupid questions...well, SOME people here will let you down easy. Remember that while ignorance can always be eradicated by education, stupidity is forever.
In support of ignorant questions, I bought a copy of STB 2003 yesterday just to have one. The folder (you can't call it a manual) that accompanies the game is a disgrace (yes, I know, after installation the manual is in three different formats on your hard drive, but why not charge two bucks more and throw in a manual?) and a lot of new STB users will be asking ignorant questions just for that reason. That doesn't excuse the all-caps-and-no-grammar crowd, but even I need to cut the new STB guys some slack. Additionally, there was more ignorance: the store manager told me not to buy STB because I couldn't get real players, teams, or stadiums for it, and that I should buy High Heat instead. The availability of STB/OOTP add-ons (and the fact that any OOTP add-on is compatible) should probably be prominently displayed on the box somewhere; this website in not even mentioned in the folder. Any new STB 2003 user has a right to be confused and ignorant. And why 2003? Guys, this year and this season season is *2002*, not 2003.
