That play Alex Gonzalez just made was amazing. What great defense this team's been playing.
Stern's a beast. |

I would much rather see him in the rotation than in the pen. I'm concerned they are committed to using him as a closer when he could have greater value down the road in the rotation. |

They locked up Coco Crisp for 3 years. Seems Theo is taking the club in the right direction. Crisp is better defensively than Johnny and faster. I am not sure if he will be a good a bat as Johnny was, but I would think close.

The deal with Ortiz IMO, is not only does he get HR's and RBI's but the usually come in big-time situations instead of when they are up by 10 or down by 10 or with no one on base (I'm looking right at you A-nod). But also his clubhouse presence and the fact that other Dominicans want to play with him could be an off-field factor. I don't think he'll earn his keep on the field in the 4th year of the contract (2010 I think I heard) but I don't quite see him in the Mo Vaughn category either.
Also I like to see the show of loyalty every now and then. I think they've done a great job of getting younger and not losing very many quality prospects, so having one or two bloated contracts isn't that big of a deal. Sox can take it afterall we aren't the Royals. |

Dang. Pena just crushed a ball foul down the line.
Also. Gustavo Chacin is really one of the most ridiculous looking baseball players I've ever seen. I keep thinking that an extra from the Star Wars cantina scene has wandered out onto the field. |

Clement sucks
Tavarez sucks So much for pitching depth, eh? Way to trade away the totally wrong pitcher. |

Clipped the blurb below from Pinto's excellent www.baseballmusings.com site.
Finagel A Bagel recently introduced the cocoa bagel in honor of the Red Sox. It was inspired by the new centerfielder, Coco Crisp: The flavor, which will be offered for the next 60 to 90 days, is made with Dutch cocoa powder, liquid chocolate flavoring, chocolate chips, and a coating of crispy cereal. And it's been selling out daily at all of Finagle's 20 Boston-area locations since being introduced last week, which means each store is selling between 50 and 100 a day, according to Finagle's owner, Laura Trust.
