... and to add to that, the agreement is of course very much with Markus and OOTP in mind. Some of you guys probably don't give Markus enough credit when it comes to his business acumen but he's on the ball I can assure you!

Wouldn't it make more sense to worry if moving from a tiny studio to a mid-sized company now to a corporation would reduce the drive to work hard?
Someone must have made big money in acquisitions like this.

Well, in an effort to derail all of the acquisition doom and gloom, I'll post a new screenshot for you.
I'm sure everyone who hated the default player photo in OOTP will be pleased! Last edited by battists; 04-19-2007 at 05:02 PM. |

What's wrong with Joe Stallings? I know him only from his long participation in a league I once ran. Do tell...

I do give Markus alot of credit for jumping ship from .400 long before it started to sink. I also remember posting when it happened that the move did not bode well for .400 and was hit with a ton of "don't worry, nothing changes, your just being negative, etc, etc" few seem to remember that fiasco. |

That has been proven over a period of months that the purchase of OOTP by SI has generated a lot of excitement both good and bad.. and when you guys get a chance to see the new OOTP you will understand that from the bottom up the game is much better. Comparing .400's woes post Markus and the SI/OOTP merger is so very offbase it isn't even funny. The woes of the lamented 400 were due to a lot of illegal activity, mismanagement, and shortsightedness of Mr. Stallings. Stallings wrecked that boat, and the best part of the fall of .400 is that Grey Dog Software emerged with a much better lineup of games, without the mismanagement and stupidity of Joe Stallings tainting their products. All of the games at GDS are much better than anything Stallings had his hands in while working his havoc at .400. Games are released with very little problems, and we all know how bad the games release was for some of the games then. Please don't assume that this merger with SI is going to make OOTP fade, because you can't compare the two. Plus not knowing what went out behind the scenes either here or at .400 or SI, you make a lot of assumptions you cannot support. Suffice it to say, I have been there, and SI will surprise you. They have long legs, strong backs and can carry the marketing and pr ball much better than anyone can, be it .400, OOTP Dev or any other company. With the resources that SI brought to the table for Markus to be able to use, and their expertise in creating quality games, as the purchase by SEGA of SI recently shows, SI isn't a fly by night operation. They know how to make great games. Let's leave the comparisons of .400 and Stallings and this merger out of it. There is TRULY no comparison at all. None.

I only remember that I enjoyed Front Page Sports Football when it came out and thought that it was probably the best sports game of it's time. Remember when it was sold to Sierra and it really went down the tubes. I think OOTP has the best baseball simulation game and hope that it continues to be top notch. Just a little leery at this point but hope things go well and will continue playing this baseball game, hopefully, for a long time down the road. By the way, I still haven't found a football game that I can enjoy as much as FPS Football.

SI has a track record that .400 could never dream of.

Wow... sega is on a buying spree... They just bought Secret Level, the dev studio that makes America's Army. But Sega only paid $15 million for the studio. It now makes the deal for SI look that much better.

Does this mean that Sonic is going to be in the next game?!?! I always thought that little hedgehog would make a great shortstop and man oh man do I need a good shortstop. I mean he's quick, he's agile and that rolling spin thing!!! Imagine that sliding into home plate legging out a triple into an inside the park homerun?!?!
Seriously I think this is not terrible. The guys who make and build this game have announced they still feel in possesion of creative license. They make good games and will continue to do so. If they didn't, we wouldn't all be checking this forum every 3.5 minutes. If anything maybe Sega will bring good ideas and resources to the team for positive change, just like I think SI did/will do. Now....if only Nintendo could buy out Sega, then I could get Donkey Kong as my new catcher. I mean that guy has got a classic catchers build! |
