This is where I get stuck
9. Run OOTPHist.
10. Create a new database, or open an existing one, as described above and change any options that need changing. 11. Click Import Stats to import the team data files into the database When I click on import I get a message that says overflow......Then it has something to click which says "ok" When I click ok at the bottom it says "Converting Team Files" but nothing seems to happen....I do have the csv file.....Do I have to create these file one at atime for each team...When I am in the CSV reporter I click all players...and save that to the Data folder of the Data base I have created is that correct or am I messing that up........... "I have a headache" Grrrr! It's prolly something so simple I am missing....... |

Yeah, it takes a little time to do, but the results are worth it.

rich, i had the same error. If your using a Team NickName in OOTP History like...
TeamName: Baltimore TeamNickName: Orioles you gotta make sure both of those match what it says in OOTP Team Setup menu. Because if you don't you'll keep getting that error.

Another possibility is that you the league.htm file in the folder you entered as the Game HTML Files option, is from a different league.

I'm having the same thing happen, so I don't think its user error (unless we're doing the same thing wrong). If you were doing something wrong, Fantom, how did you fix it?

After all my difficulties I have run your program with great success for a while now and it is great! Good work!! After loooking over all the screens I have one thought. Would you be able to add a screen where we could have the league leaders listed for Batting Title, HR, RBI etc...somthing similar what we have now for best batter, best pitcher, fireman, manager of the year etc? We could manually input the leaders for each league for each year like we do the others since it is possible a player could show as a league leader in HR but we know he was traded half way through the season to a team in the other league. I find it fascinating to see a list of the winners in the categories now and more would only enhance the web pages. I have been trying to add an additional linked web page but my html skills are lacking but I'll keep working on it for now Thanks again for the program.

I'm a little confused
I haven't played with this yet, but I'd like to clarify something before I attempt it. Based on the posts I've read, I may end up pulling out what's left of my hair if I don't.
Step one says: "1. Start OOTP and load your league. If this league has been going for a number of seasons, then start with the first season that was simmed..." Does this assume that we've been making backups of our league or am I reading this wrong? In other words, my league started in 2001, proceeded to 2002, and is on the verge of completing 2003. I have the master league file, which has been running for three seasons now. How can I start with the first season that was simmed if I don't have a backup of that season? I hope this isn't a ridiculous question. The instructions sound simple enough, but for some reason I'm not quite grasping the wording. |

If you don't have a backup, then the obvious answer (to me) seems to be that you can't start with the first season simmed. What I think will happen is that Cato's utility will start creating a history from the first season you import into it. If that is what you want, then go for it. Be sure to use the career stats exporter tool as well so you can get the background stats for your guys into the history as well.

I almost finally have got this to work. I've tried many times before but with little time on some days I haven't had the chance. Now I'm at the Import All Stars and Awards part but am having a problem. When I go to import the All Stars it says they import and everything but then there are no names. I seen the message about if names do not show up then toggle between the stats and they would show up but they still do not. If I go to input them manually a message pops up that says something about the script I believe. I went to the Awards screen and was going to input the players and no players are shown. I put the names in and then went to put in the NL Awards and went back to the AL but the names were gone. No clue what's going on here. I thought maybe something happened at the import team part for some reason but if I try to reimport teams it says the things would be duplicated or something to that effect. So, I guess I'm a little lost, but this is the closest I've gotten, I'm not gonna give up this time. Thanks for the help everyone! By the way Cato, I got the Gazette up and running just fine and I have to say that it is awesome. Makes things very easy to see and quick to get too.

JoeRock,
Did you remember to export HTML files from the Online League Options screen in OOTP? If not, that could be your problem. If you did export them, go to the OOTP History options menu and make sure it's looking for them in the correct folder.

Yeah I exported the files. I'll check again to see if they're looking in the right folder or not but I'm pretty sure they are. Thanks Chappy.

Yeah, everything is pointing to the correct folder and the files were exported. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Dumb question: If Cato adds a feature that is, say, "tallest player" (just an example of a totally new stat), am I right in assuming, if you don't have backups of earlier leagues, it will only start keeping records from that season on?

You did play an all-star game, right? If you open the General News section (lnews.htm), you should find the all-stars listed on whatever date the game was played.
As for no players on the award screen, I've seen that happen when there were problems with the team csv files. Usually what happens is that 1 team's league abbreviation is messed up. For instance, Atlanta is named ATL_ML_2002 instead of ATL_NL_2002. If this is the case, you would need to start from scratch again. I hope to eliminate alot of these problems if CommishJoe gets his stats exporter fully functional. Or if OOTP5 includes an export utility. (hint, hint, Markus)
