Missing Career History - 4.2 bug?

I am in year 2017 of my league and my player histories only show their "career history" from 2009 to the present. I believe 2008-2009 _may_ have been when I updated from 4.1 to 4.2. Anyone know how I may be able to fix this, to add back the 2001-2008 career history?

Thanks.

I'm curious about what happened to your career history, I took a look at my leagues when I saw your post and all history's(sp) are intact. Are you certain that those years weren't played before the "player history" was added? Just to let you know all my leagues end up being "test leagues" for issues like this and I have not had a problem, nor heard of any others with this problem.

I'm sorry, I don't believe I understand your question.

I've simmed a few leagues now and this is the first time I've had this problem. I do remember that earlier (say 2004) the career history was fine (showed 2001 through 2004). I've now reloaded years from before 2008 (e.g. 2007) and they only have that current year (2007) in the career history. The only thing I can think of that may have caused this was updating to 4.2. Maybe I did something else that caused this, but I can't think of anything.

Below is a cropped screen capture of the aforementioned problem. As you can see, the scrollbar has not been moved and the history starts at 2009.

It appears that my restores from 2001-2006 are fine, each year shows from 2001 to that year. 2007 and 2008 only show that year's history. 2009 and on show from 2009 and on.

Any ideas on how I can fix this? I hope my only option isn't to add back the text into the player files. Any fast ways to do this?

I'm currently at a loss, one because I would think that if applying 4.2 would have done this then LOTS of people would be having this issue. Second, is I don't know of any quicker way.

I'll keep looking into this however.

Do you have your league files available anywhere? If not, can you host your league file somewhere, I would love to take a look at it. Thanks

I have year-end backups from 2001 to 2016. Is there 1 or 2 that you specifically have in mind?

Did you delete or overwrite the PLAYERS folder within the NEWS folder of your league.

I have ran my HOB2 thru all patches of OOTP4 and never lost any history info.

I'm pretty sure I didn't. Though, who knows, I may have by accident and just don't remember. If I'm the only one, then I guess it must have been something I did, and not the patch.

The only files that I delete are: the box folder, the messages folder (if there are any files in it), and empty (size 0kb) "story__.txt" files in the news folder. And these I only delete at the beginning of a year.

I'm thinking that to fix this, a program (maybe an advanced text editor?) might be able to recognize similar files (player files have the same file name), then add the text from the files in the first folder (2006) to the beginning of the text in the files of the second folder (2007). And then I could do this for each successive year (2008-2016). Anybody know of a program (or an ootp4 utility) that might be able to do this?

Well I found a program that will do what I want, Araxis Merge (@ download.com). But I found something interesting. I compared my player folders for 2006 and 2007, and the 2007 folder is missing a lot of files. So, Tiger Fan, I guess you are right, I did delete my player folder somehow. Anyways, if someone ever needs to merge files, Araxis Merge looks to be a great program.
