computer transactions
ive noticed a few times that computer controlled teams will perform a transaction like releasing a player and then another computer controlled team signing this player on the same day. my own team never gets a crack at such a player.
is there any way to involve my own team in a chance to pass or sign a released player? v' |

i just scrolled down and saw the very same question. duh.
still though, it seems that human controlled teams wont get a crack at released players that are signed the same day by a computer controlled team. v'

Good point, there needs to be atleast some period of time to allow for this.

Not sure of a way around this but I always looked at as being good, it's not like it happens every time as a matter of fact in my solo league it's fairly rare. Seems to me if there is a period where they always linger after being released the human will always get first dibs. When I play I normally check transactions almost every day and when I see one of these I just chalk it up to another GM beating me to the punch.

I have noticed that (although it is rare) and actually kind of don't mind it. I have also noticed (as others here have) that AI teams will often release quality young prospects who have not neared their potential. I make it a rule never to pick them up myself and let another team sign them.

i've noticed they release good prospects quite often. it's usually when they are stacked at that position. but never the less it shouldn't happen. if they wanna get rid of them just trade them. in my solo league i'm the yankees and i believe it was the blue jays that released a great prospect. this dude was 21. i usually get the free agents list weekly to see what stud prospect has been released and i came across this 3B guy who had great potential. He was drafted in 2003 10th pick overall first round. His ratings were
AVG: Fair Double: Fair Triple: Good Homeruns: Brillant BB: Brilliant Avoid K: Good when i picked him up his AVG potential was poor. but at the age 21 i was not gonna pass up on him hoping his potential when up. And at the age of 24 he was ready for the big leagues. Not only did he tear the ball off the cover in A,AA,AAA but his overall AVG was about .270 so i brough him up. he was a backup his rookie year because my all-star 3b was putting up too great of numbers to bench or trade so he had about 30 ab's that year but he only had about 6 hits. the next year during spring training i noticed his talent went up. Avg went up to Fair. So next year i traded my all star 3B for 3 great prospects and decided to give him a shot. Well he won Rookie Of The Year had a .260 avg 20 dingers and 86 rbis. After that year his talent in AVG went up to Good. He went out to start for me until he was 38. Won 3 Hank Aaron Awards and was selected to 9 all-star games and entered the hall of fame when he retired.

The most amazing thing I've found about computer transactions is the following.
In 1901, my ABL saw the St. Louis River Pilots trade their 1B to Detroit. That player went on to win the MVP. Fine. In 1902, that player was traded again, between the same two teams. The player that 1B was traded for, won the MVP. Fine. This happened five times total. The 1B was traded between teams, and finally stuck with a team beginning in 1905. That needs changed, or limited. It's happened several times, even with Hall of Famers. It's rare when someone who is quite good stays on the same team, or at least only changes due to free agency. Peace John |

I think after a player is released, everyone should get a day to submit a bid for the player. He picks the offer he most likes. Make it more like the free agent period of the offseason.
