We've been that far under for years now. Red McCombs was a cheap ****.

Jeb Putzier as well, which is the one I'm most concerned with losing. I just haven't seen enough from Wesley Duke to be calm during this news.

Anderson, to me, seemed to have trouble hanging onto the ball in some big spots. (I remember a couple "and goals" last year where he coughed it up, and his inability to get "inches" in a game late in the year that.. for some strange reason.. I have no memory of whatsoever beyond that.)

The defensive line for the Broncos still sucks, so any additional shake-up there can't hurt too much, even if it completely fails. Pryce's time was up.

Didn't the Redskins only win one more game than the Dolphins this year? With a tougher schedule to boot.

Looks like Eric Moulds is going to end up somewhere other than Buffalo.

The talk might be dead again, and the two main issues:

Quote:
As reported earlier this week by ESPN.com, there is a bloc of nine to 10 low-revenue franchises, very solid in their convictions, and prepared to veto any extension to the collective bargaining agreement that does not sufficiently address their own local needs. Owners of those teams view the internal revenue-sharing issue as critical to their financial viability in coming years.

But the low-revenue franchises aren't the only clubs currently opposed to a deal. The owner of one high-revenue franchise told ESPN.com on Saturday night that, counting teams at both ends of the spectrum, he projected that half of the 32 clubs would not endorse an extension to the collective bargaining agreement without further addressing revenue-sharing issues.
Quote:
Sources said Saturday that, as part of the weekend discussions, the NFL proposed limiting the amount of cash over cap, per team, to 2 percent. While Upshaw has expressed concern in the past about cash over cap, he likely viewed the 2 percent limit as too low, and as potentially taking money away from players.
Interesting the current socialism system isn't satisfying everyone. The poorer teams want communism, and the richer teams want capitalism.

Both sides need to suck it up and make a deal before this gets catostrophic.

Dont these owners realize that whats made their sport so great IS the cap and everything it has done to "even out the playing field". It makes things interesting and allows for every team to have, at least somewhat realistic of a shot to make the playoffs at least and who knows what from there. In basketball, you can say right now its probably gonna come down to the Spurs, Suns, and Mavs out west and the Pistons, Heat, and maybe Pacers in the east. Baseball has its own problems all to its own, although things are getting better. Football was the one sport where you could have a team really turn it around in a short timespan.

Just my 2 pennies.

Basketball has a cap, too.

The guaranteed contracts combined with the porous cap makes basketball more unforgiving than baseball in terms of flexibility. I think alot of the benefit that people attribute to the cap in football is actually the non-guaranteed contracts. Teams have a chance to rebound from their mistakes and get back to a competitive level much more quickly (given competent management).

I think that most owners realize a cap is in their best interests; it's the players who are not too big on it.

The Jets wound up reworking Pennington's deal and cutting Kevin Mawae.

Link.

And even the players recognize they're not going to get rid of it. They just want a bigger piece of the pie. It doesn't really matter to them how it's cut.

While I question the wisdom of not changing the CBA, I do stand by the players and believe that they are in the "right" here.

I'm very curious to see who the Vikings will pick up with their 24 million, I believe. Should be able to make a great team.

I'm interested too, but it doesn't mean it'll give us a good team. A lot of people thought we were going to be awesome this past season because of all the off-season moves we made and you saw what happened. It would be nice to pick up a big name or two or a handful of guys that can contribute some solid stats to the team, but it doesn't necessarily mean it'll work out that way. They have to gel with the existing team and not get injured.
