I'd list Gregg Jefferies but he actually ended up with a decent career. Same with Matt Nokes, Ben MacDonald, Scott Erickson, etc.

The Bird should also be mentioned if he hasn't already.

My personal favorite that never makes the 5 million lists like this that are constantly going on every baseball forum: Rick Schu
Aww, don't ya think that Fydrich deserves a mulligan for basically having his arm fall off? It wasn't like he was ROY, then transmorgifyed into Mark Davis in year two.

Here's my little contribution:
Darryl Boston
Jerome Walton
Kenny Williams
...is Corey Patterson there yet?
...Michael Jordan?

In my opinion corey patterson isn't a total bust. He's never lived up to expectations but he had a few productive years, and i predict he'll have a few more by the time he's done.

I think the cubs really messed him up last year trying to make him into a leadoff hitter. I think getting away from the cubs is the best thing for him. He'll be a solid 4th outfielder at the very least.

I don't think Jerome Walton qualifies either. Didn't he win ROY? Also, I remember him being a good reserve during his time with the Reds.

I think most Mets prospects end up on the list.

Quinton McCracken. He ended up being a decent backup but never lived up to the " Rickey Henderson" hype when Colorado drafted him.

Just goin' on promise vs promise delivered. If Walton won the ROY, it's because Grissom got overlooked. Walton was going to be the next Gary Mathews to listen to the hype on WGN. Yes, he was a servicable extra outfielder for a couple of years, but a star he was not.

Hmmm, while I'm thinking of outfielder busts, how about Tony Tarrasco?

I mentioned him as "not a bust". He was, rather, someone who never lived up to his early expectations a'la Gregg Jefferies or Ben MacDonald or someone. i.e. a decent career, but not a superstar. The 20 wins occurred during his first full season, in 91.

The one that comes to mind for me was the former Yankee #1 pick Brian Taylor. After a bar fight he injured his shoulder and was never heard from again.

Thank goodness he got that huge singing bonus!
I'm a little late in chiming in here, but I immediately thought of Brien Taylor when I saw the title.

Shout out to Pat Dodson if no one mentioned him.

When I worked for the Lowell Spinners in the NY-Penn League I had the chance to see White pitch. Honestly I think he hit 3 batters and had a couple of WPs in something like 4IP.

Oh do I remember those days.....I some what believe the 94 strike killed a lot of the baseball card business, imo the one aspect of that strike that never recovered.
