Criticism is a natural part of any business world and if he's so thin-skinned he can't recognize that he deserves a lot of flak for his repeated delays, pathetic add-on features after having an entire year to add a career mode (the reason the last delay was given for), then he has absolutely no business being an independent developer and should contribute what talents he might have to a larger corporation, where he has a much smaller audience to deal with. But oh wait, that'd mean he'd have to meet deadlines in a timely fashion, wouldn't he? This kid's got a lot of growing up to do and I strongly believe he's going to face an even more powerful firestorm of criticism when the game comes out than what he's faced now. When you've taken this long to work on a project and the game feels incomplete, the sim engine is busted, or there's major, major bugs, etc... whatever the problems are, you're going to get a hell of a lot more heat for it. Maybe he'll prove me wrong and the product will actually turn out decent. Maybe he'll stop being so defensive and condemning of those who offer critiques of his game. But right now, from where I stand, there's a better chance of my hooking up a threesome with Amy Lee and Kirsten Dunst than either of those things happening.

Let's suppose Maximum Football flops or is never released in our lifetime, although I have to say the new screenshots and info on the Maximum FB wesite looks pretty good, why hasn't someone else filled this niche in the gaming industry? Division Rivals doesn't seem to be iminent, TPF is out of business and Bowl Bound is a college game. FOF is not graphically ambitious. Isn't there someone who could combine the graphics of Madden and the strategy and GM mode of OOTP? That's what I long for, anyway. I hope we're pleasantly surprised by MF, but if not, where is the competition? There seems to be a market for such a game. Who knows what EA's own NFL Headcoach will be like.

What about Football Mogul? Is it alright? Can you actually play games like FOF, or is it just the financial/GM role you fill.
In any case, I hope that FOF comes out with a new version soon. Something more customizable. I thought the game engine was very good, or at least good enough for Arlie(?) to consider other improvements. BTW, is Skydog Arlie? I haven't seen him post in a while.

Gee, more delays! They're claiming it's Monday night, but "may turn in to Tuesday".
I hate to say it.. but... I told you so.

Gee 1 day longer if it or anything else that bothers you about the game why follow it so much? Also what is one day compared to the overall length to completion? This week there is also some stiff competition(albeit different genres) being released including TOCA,and Galactic Civilizations 2.I would love to get the aforementioned two,and MF,but time and money comes a big part for me here in deciding what to buy and what to pass or wait on for users reviews.Anyhoo dont make a big deal out of one days worth of delay, could be several reasons, one that is highly likely is server stability being up to snuff for hopefully the high amounts of traffic the day of release.

*laughs some more* Hahahahaha! Entirely different target markets you're dealing with here and the only high amount of traffic there's going to be on the hypothetical day of release (since I'm still betting on this game never coming out) will be people eagerly awaiting to see how the poor guinea pigs react to a half-ass done game. Though you do have a point with relative to completion... since it's been five years so what's another year or two relative to that? ![]() Honestly, despite my repeated ripping of this game and David Winter (who seriously appears to be in need something starting with a c and riming with glue), I do feel bad for Matrix Games. From all accounts, they appear to be a solid company who happened to fall for a smoke and mirrors showing by Mr. Winter. |

From matrixgames website:
I have been reading some of your more "constructive" posts. I would like to respond to them in this forum. Firstly I would like to let you know - developing a game is not easy. If you feel that, by yourself, you could develop a better title, then go do it. This man has spent the last five years of his life trying to make you happy. So now, when they are working to make it the best possible game it can be, your complaining. If you've waited five years a few more days aren't going to kill you. Secondly, as it has been mentioned in other forums, it is JUST a game. Sure, you're all excited, but it's not a sign of the impending Apocolypse if it takes a day or two to work out last minute issues and give you a great release. Thirdly, I have seen you degrade into personal attacks on the developer of the game you've been salivating over. Perhaps you could voice your concerns in a more mature manner. Keep things in perspective. This game has truly been David's life over the last two years, and in turn, mine. I would appreciate you taking the time to think about how hard these people, both David here, but also Erik and David at Matrix games have been working to get this out the door and please all of you. I felt a little perspective was needed here. Now, I know, I have probably offended some of your sensibilities but someone has to rein you guys in. If you feel like you have to post in response, here's a tip: take a breath, think long and hard about how you're going to say things, and if you feel you must respond, be mature about it. I do realise that I now will be getting a ton of profane and threatening pms - but that's the price I'll pay if you just let David get this out the door for you. _____________________________ Jennifer L.
