Illegal Operation

I got OOTP4 about a month ago, and it was working well at the beginning. Recently I have been receiving Illegal operations everytime I start up, however, when it tries to load my online league on the program startup. I am running Windows 98, and I usually get very few problems on my computer. I also have the new patch for OOTP4 and have already tried reinstalling. The program worked fine right after I reinstalled, but after restarting the illegal operation is back up again. Below is the text of the illegal op. Is there anything I can do?

Are you sure that you have the latest version of direct X installed as well as your video drivers updated?

I installed both the new directX and the new GeForce driver, but I am still getting the illegal operation. Do you know anything else that I could try?

Does this happen with any league or just a certain one?

When I start up the program it automatically loads my internet league, so I guess it is just that league. I am actually not involved with any other leagues. None of the other people in the league have problems like this that I know of.

Try to start a new league and see if it happens, it is possible that your copy of the internet league could have somehow gotten corrupted but if it happens with other leagues then it is somethingelse.

I deleted the league file, and now I am no longer getting an illegal operation. I suppose this is a bug that could be fixed in the next update. I will have to keep downloading the league file everytime I open ootp, but that is better than getting an illegal op everytime. Thank you for your help.

I'm not quite understanding what you are saying the problem is, I am in a number of online leagues and commish one and I have to d/l a new league file after each sim inorder to keep my leagues running properly. So having to do that isn't a problem or a bug, could you help clarify for me what you are saying?

Immediately after starting OOTP4 my online league automatically comes up. I was getting illegal operations everytime this was happening until I deleted the league file so that this particular league would not be loaded and it would instead load the default screeen.

What if you have another league load at first THEN try to load the online league after that? Do you know what "exact" version of the game that the commissioner is using?

When I did that there was no illegal operation. I am pretty sure the commish is using the newest possible version.

But if you have it set as the "default" league it gives you the error message even now? Or since you d/l the file again it has stopped?

It continues to do it if I make it the default league on startup, but if I open the league after the program has already been booted then it is fine.

What is the league named? Are there any unique settings, etc about the league?

Sounds similar to mine, except I don't do any online leagues... also running Windows 98, and my problems started when I downloaded DirectX 9.0 so I could try to get Tournament Dreams to work (it didn't!). Any suggestions?

I'm not sure either game works w/ directX9, atleast I have not tried them.
