Boy, this is a can of worms just waiting to be opened, but here goes...........

College Football, IMO, is the best sport around. It's hard to match the fervor of the fans and the passion of the players in any other sport.

My favorite is college basketball. I live for March Madness every year. College football would be up there, but with their innability to get this National Championship thing done right it just makes me not want to watch.

I don't know if you mean spectator or participation. Obviously baseball wins the spectator sport contest. As far as participation, teams sports take a back seat to individual sports, my favrotie of which has to be Track. You can't blame a loss on not having a fancy outfit (hi-tech swim gear), having crappy teammates, bad calls by the refs, etc. If you win, YOU won it. If you lose, YOU lost it. Doesn't get simpler or more beautiful than that.

To me it's Baseball. Here's why...

1) I can fall asleep on it and still know what's happening when I wake up.
2) It's pace allows me to fade in and out of full-fledged conversation with my son and still catch all the action at the same time.
3) The clean crack of the bat on a solid hit. There's nothing like that sound.
4) Anticipation. (Pehaps the main reason why the 'have to have it now,' generation just finds it hard to follow baseball.)

It's the pace of the game that I adore. Although I must admit that Games are to long now. The pace was much better when I was a kid.

Sometimes the grand ol' game can get quite boring. But bordom often sparks creativity. But, then all hell breaks lose in an instant. Man. There's nothing quite like baseball. We still need it.

And the only sport where anyone off the street can do fine in. I had not bowled for 2 years prior to a recent work related party. I bowled a 177 on my first game. What an easy "sport"!

Reminds me of the scene in the movie Kingpin, when they walk into the venue for the National Bowling Championship. Ishmail says "wow, it's kind of intimidating to be in the presence of so many great athletes" as they show middle-aged overweight men smoking cigarettes and stuffing their faces with pizza.

Baseball is the only sport I follow. I love its depth and strategies, which are somewhat lacking in the faster-paced sports to me. I also love the lack of a time limit. As Yogi said, it ain't over till it's over. It was also my favorite sport to play, back when I was younger and in shape, because of the feeling of anticipation I got when I was on deck or when I was playing third base, waiting for a ball to come my way.

I really don't like basketball because I feel like I'm watching a pendulum. They score way too often. It would be interesting if the game was about 5 minutes long, since it usually comes down to the last 5 minutes anyway.

Football is interesting, but I guess I just didn't get into it at a young enough age.

Hockey is fun to watch and play, and the amount of scoring is just right, but it's a little too simplistic for me.

Soccer just doesn't have enough scoring - opposite problem of basketball's.

Other sports I just don't catch enough of to rate.
