League Structure mishap
Ok, Ive started my own 8-team fictional league.. the problem I have is that I have 2 divisions of 4 in one league, and now I find out that you can't run playoffs with only 1 league.
Is there any way to get a second league and transfer one of my division to the other league, without loosing the teams that my owners have been moulding. Im in a real bad situation here, because I dont want to resart the league from scratch. I have yet to start simming my first season, but a lot of owners have been making trades etc. to get the team the way they want, and I'd like to solve this issue, while allowing my owners to keep the teams they've had over the last few weeks. Any help? |

Couldn't you just keep it the way it is and at the end of the season (before it is over officially), schedule some new games?

I am just guessing, I would make a backup copy of the league 1st, before you do anything.
Then, sim up to the last day, but do NOT sim the last day as you do not want to trigger 'end of season'. Then, if it is decided who wins, then add new games to the schedule for the playoffs. I actually do not know if it would work, but I think I remember someone doing something like this before.

1 more thing.
Wouldn't the series that I run, also still have an affect on the participating team's final standings? Do you think OOTP would get all messed up when it comes time for it to set the amatuer draft order and stuff? Like when some teams have played more games than others.. Thats the only flaw I see in your plan. |

There is a way to export your teams to a CSV file. Then you could start a new league with 2 leagues and the structure you want just make sure you start it with no players. Then delete the existing teams and import your teams to the league and division you want them in.

do I export all of Roster, Player Ratings, and Player General Info to the CSV? Or just one?
And then import all of those in the same spot from the League Set-up screen?? thanks |

Actually, here is an easier way to do it:
Step by Step: 1. Make sure you are in the off-season, preferably just after the initial draft, fantasy draft or amateur draft. Even if you've processed trades, this will work. Make a backup copy of your league and store it on your hard drive in case you make any mistakes. 2. Create a new custom league in the exact same year and with teams in exactly the same cities as your original league. Be sure to set the structure with 2 leagues(as you stated above). Be sure that the teams are in the right league. Also, make sure the new league generates default players or fictional players. It's these that we'll replace in the latter steps. 3. Once the new league is created, go into each team's setup page and be sure that the abreviations all match the original league. 4. Run the initial draft or fantasy draft and exit the game. 5. Go into your OOTP 6.5 folder and find your new league file(i.e. newleague.lg) and open it. 6. Remove the following files: teams.DAT teams2.DAT teams3.DAT teams4.DAT players.DAT players2.DAT draft.DAT 7. Go into your original league file(i.e. originalleague.lg) and open it. 8. Locate the same files that you removed in step 6 above. Copy and paste them into your new league file. That should do it.(I've tested this with league files that are on the same date and have the same number of teams without problem)
